Pastor was good just kinda dry, fajita was cold and tough. Beans were pretty good. Restaurant was very clean and the staff was helpful and nice. We asked to switch out the fajita and she did without any issue or attitude like a lot of places. Gonna give them another try. Especially on Tuesday or Thursday when pastor tacos are $1 each.

The first thing I noticed when walking into the restaurant is how clean the place is. Not a spec of dust on anything and the tables were all clean. We ordered the trompo tacos, the side order of nopales, agua de horchata and agua de jamaica. The staff brought our food and drinks to the table, there was a bonus of grilled onions and chiles toreados that was a nice surprise. The food was clean and the meat had a nice crust on it. The salsas were hot but not so hot you regret eating them. The drinks were a fresh and refreshing. Overall this place is underrated 10/10 great value and scrumptious food.

So…….,

Today we we’re craving tacos and we decided to try a new place out. The food is OK. Definitely NOT tacos CALLEJEROS!. They taste OK but not what I thought and or expected. There was no one inside dining while we were here. The lady in front was nice and very attentive. I would not come back. If you are looking for street tacos this is not the place.

Pollo Sopes and Barbacoa Gordita both tasted amazing! The green sauce was delicious and wasn’t super spicy to me. I used it sparingly in case it was too hot, but I was perfect. The restaurant was clean and the service was good and quick. Close to work, so I’ll be back!

Tesoro escondido!
Tucked away in one of the furthest corners of a very blue-collar town by the channel, land of royal blue and gold, called Channelview, exists a treasure of a Mexican restaurant, serving flavor-packed and value-added tacos, nachos, burritos, tortas, and more, à la carte!
It is said that diamonds are formed in the earth under extreme pressure and heat. Through the pressure and heat, dirty coal is formed into diamonds. in a similar fashion, this location, in a hidden place, with the warmth of a spit and a griddle, is making flavor-packed food filled with vitamin “T!” T is for tacos, tortas, tostadas, etc.
The first time I visited, I had to go on a treasure hunt. I almost turned around, thinking the place no longer existed. As I turned my vehicle around to leave, I serendipitously saw a sign that had been hidden from my view from the previous spot. Much to my glee, it was Tacos el Sabor Callejero! (That name is more than a mouthful!) Yessir, I had faithfully followed the proverbial dotted line, to the X that marked the spot, where my belly wanted to be. And the miracle happened after my trial of faith, as it always does. Seriously, the medical business next door has a facade that juts out, hiding the taco place!
Here is what the food gems are all about:
1. Street Tacos de trompo for 1$ each…on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Hear me out. When is the last time you had the option to buy any food item for a buck?! You heard that right. Insane value. They are cut off of a vertical spit like they should be. Bold marinated pork flavor caramelized to peak goodness, matched with other, in your face flavors of diced onion, chopped cilantro, and fresh lime. Boom!
I fast beforehand to walk in and order these bad boys in batches of 10. So, no judgement on your orders.
2. Burritos perfectly balanced with a base of rice and refried beans, filled with your choice of savory flavor-packed meat, topped with fresh produce, and lovingly wrapped in a giant flour tortilla blanket.
3. Nachos with tortilla chips made by hand, heavily covered with silky refried beans, your meat of choice, graced by guac, striped with crema, and topped with a mini hailstorm of fresh cheese. It’s a hearty portion too!
4. Tortas, that start with a lightly toasted torta roll, and are filled with the same goodness found in their burritos minus the rice. Bread lovers, start your order here!
5. Gorditas, like taco’s thiccer cousin. Tortilla masa slapped out fatter. Beans, meat and fresh produce. Add cream and queso fresco too. Yaaas!
6. Tostadas, a freshly fried corn tortilla, topped with beans, meat of choice, fresh veggies, queso fresco, and a dollop of guac.
7. Sopes, are similar to a tostada, minus the guac, and with a round tray of hand slapped out masa, that adds a nice bit of extra earthy nixtamalized goodness.
8. Quesadillas, exactly what one would expect. Tortilla, cheese, meat optional. Comfort food in a three ingredient envelope.✉️
9. A baked potato…made way better with all the Mexi-toppings! Seriously, Mexican Cuisine goes hard, with baked potatoes.
10. Birria tacos. Mexican seasoned, pot roast textured beef in a slightly toasted corn taco fold and served with a side of birria au jus. Delicious and moist.
11. Crunchy tacos. These really need to be mentioned. They fry the tortilla shells there. The results is a light and crunchy shell that I have not found the match to in all the land. It is, oh so crispy, but yet, it is ethereally light, and does not assault the mouth with tortilla weaponized shards.
Perfect.
Texture.
They fill’em with beans, meat of choice, fresh produce, and fresh cheese. This is not your average Tex-Mex taco shell. It’s better!
But, faithful foodie adventures, don’t take my word for it. Take the treasure hunt to this hidden gem, Tacos el Sabor Callejero.
Find your tasty treasures, and share your riches with friends and family…or don’t, no judgement here. Your taste buds will be rewarded.
Happy eating, y’all!

Decided to try this place for the first time (5/01/24). Tacos have really good flavor, I asked for the toppings on the side. We ordered al pastor, fajita, birra, pollo, barbacoa, lengua, and campechano tacos. My favorite ones were the al pastor, fajita, lengua and campechano. The green salsa has great flavor more on the mild side, if you like your salsa more spicy I recommend the red one. Also got the churro cheesecake and it was delicious. Overall I would recommend this place and will be back to try other items on the menu.

Update: Went back 5/4/24 tried the sope and gordita and gotta say they were really good. The horchata was good, sweet but not too sweet.

Service was fast and the food was incredible! The Birria and pastor tacos were definitely worth come back for, but the Tripa tacos were my personal favorite. The salsas were great.
