After finishing a project in Redondo Beach, I was heading into 7-Eleven for a quick snack when an unreal smell stopped me in my tracks. It was coming from next door—Fat Tomato Pizza. I changed course immediately, and that decision turned into one of the best food moves I’ve ever made.
Inside, I met Fernando—super friendly, down-to-earth, and clearly proud of his work. He served me what was possibly the best slice of pizza I’ve had in my life. Perfectly cooked crust, rich sauce, quality toppings—everything was just on point.
The shop itself is clean, well-cared for, and clearly run by people who take pride in what they do. It’s rare to walk into a place and immediately feel like you’re in good hands, but this was one of those times.
To the owner: Give Fernando a raise or more responsibility. He’s a rockstar and just turned me into a loyal customer.
Bottom line: If you’re in Redondo Beach, forget the chains—go to Fat Tomato Pizza. Grab a slice (or three), and say hi to Fernando. You’ll be glad you did.

I’ve been coming here for years but the guy working tonight gave me a attitude and refused to make anything besides cheese or pepperoni because I could see it was already made and he likely didn’t want to make it. I asked if they had anything else and he goes “not really”. Every other person l’ve ever talked to would make my order. If I was the manager l’d look for better staff. It’s a bummer because I’d stop here often… look for another pizza place with respectable staff. Also he wasn’t wearing gloves when making food which I noticed on the way out so probably for the best I walked out.

As a chef and owner of a restaurant I’m disappointed. This place should be shut down for the unsafe practices they use here. Came in to order a slice see a gentleman on the side he looked at me and proceeded to walk towards the back. Another guys came from the back took my order then I see him walking back up wipes his hands on his shirt then proceeded to grab receipts throw them away and start making my pizza with his hands. No gloves no washing of his hands. He grabbed all my toppings with his hands no gloves veggies and meat (cross contamination ). Then after he made the pizza he was very rude. I was having thoughts that I can give the pizza to the homeless and I asked him for napkins.. I said please and thank you and he low key rolled his eyes I said thank you again and he was very dismissive. I then asked for my money back because what you’re not going to do is be nasty with customers food and be rude.

10 stars! Best pizza ever! They are very good with carefully preparing your food if you notify them of food sensitivities. Love love this place. Extremely kind and helpful service by the wonderful staff as well! Highly highly recommend!

This is the only pizza place in town my family goes to regularly! We have celiac, so going out to eat is always a risk. But luckily for us the staff here are always understanding and helpful to do the best they can to keep our food from being cross-contaminated. My bf & I found this place going to 7-11 located right next door so we thought we’d give it a try we ordered one order of there Spegetti with Meat Sauce although it didn’t have all the ingredients we put in are homemade Spegetti it is very tasty & one of the employees thru in a couple of buns to eat w/the Spegetti at no charge & One great feature is there open pretty late considering all the other food places nearby close much earlier I would say try it at least once I believe youll like it!
