In the 1890s, this area was pretty rough ‘n tumble. In nearby Hope, life was typical of the Old West. Across from the saloons lining Main Street was “the Crow’s Bench” — a row of benches that gave folks a place to talk and look out over the railroad and lake below. Drinking, rough talk and fighting were commonplace. But we like to think the Crow’s Bench also provided hardworking souls with a much-needed place to get together and have a good time. This inspiration reminds us of yester-yore, but now here we are! Snow-covered friends and families, sitting and sipping beverages while swapping tall tales of deep snow and blower pow.

The restaurant ambience is beautiful. The bar service is good and the waitress was polite and attentive. It was easy to get a seat but the waiting time for the food was quite long. I’m not sure why the kitchen took so long to prepare the food, especially since it wasn’t a busy day and we were there in the early evening.
The portion sizes were nice and the food tasted good but I can’t say it was worth such a long wait. I like their lentils soup, creamy and warm. The drinks however were great, especially after skiing. You definitely need a strong beverage after a long day on the slopes

Overall impressed with how poor the service was in this otherwise quite nice place? More than 45 minutes to get a cocktail for 4 (note that 1 was forgotten so really only 3) in a half full restaurant? Food was ok but took another 30 minutes for first appetizer to show up? Schweitzer needs to up its game if they want this place to survive. Wont be back for this party.

Really excellent food, service, location, and ambiance. Large warm fireplace, lots of cozy places to sit and have a drink before dinner, and the food options are top-notch American fare with a twist.
Highly recommend for a special and/or romantic dinner on the mountain!

Outstanding experience thanks to Megan at the bar. She was incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely personable from the moment we sat down. What really set her apart was her deep knowledge of classic cocktails and Old Fashioneds. She clearly knows her craft. Each drink was perfectly balanced, thoughtfully prepared, and tasted excellent. Megan made the experience feel both elevated and relaxed, the kind of bartender who makes you want to stay for “just one more.” Truly top-tier service and skill. Thank You Megan!

My husband and I came for lunch and thankfully we are happy we didn’t come for dinner due to the pretty big disappointment. The food was definitely sad to say the least. The chicken sandwich I highly encourage you to not order. The flavor combination was really off, the chicken was pretty inedible, and the bun felt like a hockey puck? My husbands Italian style sandwich I had a few bites of and his bread was much better but had parts that were so soggy? Even my lemonade tasted kinda funky. I had extremely high hopes for this spot, since the atmosphere/ambiance of the restaurant is truly BEAUTIFUL! The wait staff was super sweet, but we wont be coming back for the remainder of our trip

On a rainy September night, there wasn’t much open on the mountain- but all you really need anyway is Crow’s Bench with its roaring fire and delicious food. Be sure to get the tostones.

Worst dining experience I’ve had in years. The salad came out first. It was tasteless, dry and you had to search for any food items that weren’t raw shaved Brussel sprouts. It was so dry I had to ask for some form of dressing. And then…OMG…the duck came out. I love duck! But I have to say, it’s the first dish I’ve ever had to say I literally couldn’t eat. It was so salty, two bites was all I could stomach. I asked my husband to have a taste and he was stunned that anything could be that salty. His dish was edible but pretty tasteless. I wont bore you all with the interactions with the servers. They were nice and blame-free. They even told me that the chef had agreed that the duck “was pretty salty” when I sent it back and it was tasted. Suffice to say they agreed to take the duck off our bill ($40 for the duck!). I ended up paying $126 for a bad salad, tasteless pasta and 2 glasses of wine. We weren’t offered any sort of discount. I ate some toast when I got home. So much for our special, mountain dinner!

Relaxed and minimalistic, yet, elevated atmosphere. Awesomely tasty drinks, excellent food. The beer cheese with the pretzels had wonderful flavor. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. The elk loin was also perfectly cooked and SO tender. I’d never had pickled blackberries, but they paired well with the flavors presented in the elk. Schnitzel had a great crust while maintaining its juiciness, and the creamed kale that was paired with it was impeccable (could have probably had a whole bowl of it to myself). Lastly, the Bee Sting was great, however, personally, would have preferred it to be room temperature or somewhere close to that. The brittle on the crust was lovely though! Brooke was an amazingly personable waitress who had wonderful recommendations and took the best care of us! It makes a difference when your waitress knows her stuff and takes the time to talk and get to know you- especially when you’re from out of town!

I was staying up on Schweitzer and had a few dinner items missing for the evening, Crow’s bench was one of the only businesses open and let my buy a few pieces of lettuce and a whole tomato so I could top off our home made burgers! They saved me driving down the mountain into Sandpoint and saved our dinner. Thank you to the kind team there and their sense of humor in our situation , you are the best!

Very tasty location at Schweitzer Mt Resort in Sandpoint. Good food (albeit smallish menu) served by cheerful and knowledgeable staff in a beautiful setting. What more do you want? We had the octopus street tacos (appetizer but works well for an entree if you have a smaller appetite) and chorizo/beef burger with mango salsa and fried egg on brioche bun. Both dishes were excellent, flavorful and attractively presented. Portions are large and we left stuffed! Will be back again. The access road up to the resort is a fantastic motorcycle ride BTW!!
