An absolute hidden gem with heart, hops, and hospitality! From the moment we stepped into The Duck Pond Eatery and Beer Garden, we were struck by its authentic local charm. Nestled in a cozy, scenic spot that perfectly balances rustic comfort with vibrant energy, this place feels like the kind of local hangout you hope to stumble upon when exploring off the beaten path. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, you’re greeted with genuine warmth from the entire staff. Families, locals, travelers—it’s clear this spot brings people together. The laid-back outdoor beer garden is perfect for soaking in a sunny afternoon or a cool evening with friends and family.

A huge shoutout to our server, Julia, who made our visit truly unforgettable. Friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable, she took the time to walk us through the menu with thoughtful recommendations that hit every mark. We started with the Wisconsin-style cheese curds—crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and served piping hot. The chips and salsa were fresh and surprisingly flavorful, with just the right amount of zest and crunch. Julia recommended the Green Wing Teal—a savory and satisfying option with balanced flavors that really impressed us—and the King Elder, which was hearty, bold, and deliciously satisfying. I also tried the Golden Eye, which delivered rich, comforting flavors in every bite, while the Northern Shoveler had a smoky kick that added depth and complexity. Every dish felt carefully crafted, and you could tell the chef takes real pride in what comes out of the kitchen.

We went in for dinner. It is a small restaurant, they have 6 tables and seating at the bar. They have over 30 local beer/IPA in cans and around 6 on tap. They serve typical bar food.their prices are a little high. They feature a local whitefish (locally caught) chowder. If you have dietary restrictions, your choices are very limited. Cassina was our server, and she was very kind and helpful to try and accommodate my food allergy. The parking lot is small but plenty big enough. Easy to get into and out of.

Good food. Incredible beer selection!
They were a little short staffed mid-afternoon until the evening shift showed up.
If it’s raining they don’t have much indoor seating.

I recently visited the Duck Pond Eatery and Beer Garden at 7974 M-28, in Munising, MI. I walked in and it was kind of slow so I was able to walk around a see all the displays of items such as displays of decoys which are everywhere. The staff was real nice and actually showed me around the beer garden which was closed..what a good operation they have going there. The whitefish pieces were delicious and too many for me to complete. A great place to hang out.

Great spot! Dined there twice during our stay at the Paddlers Village. Whitefish was fresh and so yummy. Wonderful selection of local craft brews. Nice patio in the back.

Our party of five stopped for lunch. The patio area is very nice and decorated in a festive way. Lots of tables and areas for big groups. The BBQ ribs, whitefish, and burger were very tasty. The turn off was our service. The waitress was grumpy and didn’t seem to care about doing her job right. Things were served wrong and then we waited a long time for them to correct the order. No comps on this, which certainly would have helped with our opinions. She was abrupt with whatever we asked for, but once it was time for us to get the bill, she got friendlier. Overall I would still go back for the atmosphere and food, but would not want that waitress at all. If she just smiled and was a bit happier in her social skills on how she talks to patrons it would help the place. There are many reviews similar to mine, so management should address that. I would give it 5 stars but because of the service I did 3.

REALLY nice outdoor spot that allows dogs. If you have a pooch enter through gate in the back.

We popped in here for a bunch of drinks and maybe some food. It was late afternoon. We were ready to spend some money after a long day of exploring but the bartender seemed put out having to come outside. Her answers were short and clipped and there was no cocktail menu brought to the table. We ordered pretzel sticks (they were good but probably a food service product). My cousin got a beer (she would’ve preferred a cocktail…..she had no idea they had liquor). I had the draft root beer. It was really tasty. We ate quickly and departed. One of the few places that we received less than stellar service in our week long sojurn in the picturesque UP.

Whitefish tacos were on point. Great drink selection. The backyard vibes worked well with my 13, 11, 8yr old. All 5 of us had a great meal for a decent price.

Me and my buddy stopped in for dinner for the first time and wasn’t the best experience. I was a gm for restaurants for 7 years, so I know the restaurant business. We came at the dinner rush so I know not the best timing but the service was not good. Seemed like no one really cared about their jobs. Tables walking out left and right. Took almost an hr for the food to come out.i got the blackened white fish and side of fries. The food was really good! Great seasonings! The back patio was very cool, and loved the decor. I’d give it another try if I’m back in town.
