Lunch or dinner it never disappoints.
Our waiter was attentive without hovering and did not make us feel rushed. This being our first Greek experience we wanted to savor our choices so we thank him!
The two of us shared the Black Olive Chips appetizer. Neither the zucchini nor the eggplant was soggy, they were very crisp, with a thin coating and perfectly seasoned with tzatzki sauce. For the entree hubby had Moussaka. His only complaint: he wish the portion size was bigger!
Food allergies can make dining out difficult. The Black Olive staff let me know which entrees they could serve according to my onion allergy. I chose the Gyro platter. WOW! The meats were tender, the pita style bread fresh, and the most amazingly seasoned fries I’ve ever tasted!
We each chose a dessert; a Baklava and the evenings special desert which had a light layer chocolate in it. I apologize for forgetting the name of it.
1 app, 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and 2 desserts brought out bill with tax to $126. A little bit more to pay but well worth the trip.
We will definitely return!
As an appetizer, the waiter dropped off some fresh bread and olive oil. The olive oil was amazing! The waiter told us that it is imported from Greece. The restaurant sells bottles of it as well. My mother ordered a Chicken Gyro and fries. I ordered the Tzatziki and the Htapodi (Grilled Octopus). My mother enjoyed her gyro and the fries were cooked well. The Tzatziki was very flavorful, rich, and creamy. The pita bread was also well-seasoned and brushed with olive oil. The octopus was perfectly cooked. It had a great flavor and was charred just the right amount. It was still very tender and moist. The only critique I had of this dish was that the portion for the cost was slightly small. Other than that, it was perfect. We will definitely stop in again when we’re back in the area!
Adi (the server) was very nice and attentive; she provided bread with delicious olive oil as a small appetizer. This restaurant is BYOB – which was great for bringing in my own favorite alcoholic beverages to have with my meal and Adi was very accommodating with glasses and ice for the beverages! Yiamas!
Let’s talk about their food:
I decided to start with their “Black Olive Chips” which were a mix of zucchini and eggplant chips, lightly battered / fried and perfectly staked in a plate with a side of taziki -Very delicious!
On Saturday and Sundays they have a special Lamb dish however once I found out their Whole Fish was Branzino, I knew I had to go for it. (I will definitely be back to try their Sat/Sun Lamb special
The Branzino comes with a small side salad with a light vinaigrette dressing and a small side or grilled asparagus – absolutely delicious, I enjoyed filleting the fish myself and it brought me right back to Santorini and eating fish while overlooking the Agean Sea.
If you are looking for authentic Greek food, look no further – give Black Olive a try!
