Review: Casa De Empanadas in Kutztown, PA – Berks County Eats

Overall, it was a very good first impression. The food was good – and unique – and I look forward to more empanadas in the near future.

We visited the restaurant around 5 p.m., and even though there were no other customers at the time, the experience was fantastic. The employee (possibly the owner) greeted us right away and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He patiently took our large order—even though it was just me and my husband—and never made us feel rushed.
The food was amazing. He served us a huge platter, and the rest of the dishes were freshly fried and brought out hot. Everything was flavorful, generous, and clearly made with care.
Between the wonderful service and the delicious food, this place really stood out. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic Puerto Rican food.

Great find in Kutztown, Pa . Tons of options for empanadas- Buffalo chicken meatball parm and cheesesteak were our favorites. Tres leches was fantastic also. Great service

So the pork I got was hard little hockey pucks, the beans were slightly fermented, the rice was crunchy, they had ran out of all empanadas but one kind… The papas rellenos were great. As far as allergens most everything had gluten, or milk/cheese, but no alcohol!

Got food yesterday to take to work. Two beef and cheese empanadas, was a couple bites in to the beef and cheese empanada when I realized it tasted off, my co worker smelled it and said oh god that’s sour and spoiled don’t eat that. Highly dissatisfied as I am pregnant and that could have made not only myself very sick but harmed my unborn baby.

Amazing food never had better. The pernil and pork chunks are wonderful. The atmosphere is very charismatic. As well as their service being great as well.

5 Stars – A small town gem with heartfelt service!

My son came home from college recently, and all he wanted was empanadas and Spanish rice—a taste of home he’d been missing. We had a special occasion to celebrate, so I reached out to Casa De Empanadas to inquire about their catering menu. I hadn’t realized they were closed for Memorial Day, and I figured we’d have to make other plans.

To my surprise, they didn’t just respond—they went above and beyond. Even though they were closed, they asked what I needed and made arrangements so I could pick up the food on Memorial Day.

And the food? Absolutely delicious. The empanadas were perfectly crisp and packed with meat, and the Spanish rice was just the comfort food we were hoping for. It made our celebration feel even more special.

Casa De Empanadas isn’t just about great food—they showed me it’s about people who care. I can’t recommend them enough.

I HATE HAVING TO COMPLAIN, BUT THIS IS A STRAIGHT UP DISGRACE TO REAL PUERTO RICAN FOOD!!!!! I was just here today & as soon as I got my food & saw the yellow rice I KNEW it was boxed rice!! The seafood empanada had imitation crab with shrimp & cheese… weird combination!!! The yuca alcapurria was different too; had corned beef inside. I should have known better from the moment I stepped foot inside & saw it was a “Puerto Rican” restaurant calling EMPANADILLAS/PASTELILLOS EMPANADAS!!!!! I spoke to the owner in Spanish & he kept replying in English. To whoever who is looking for real & authentic Puerto Rican food pleaseeeee don’t even bother with this place. (NOT INTENDED TO BE HARSH JUST HONEST)

Tried this new place in Kutztown and we will be back! The yellow rice on its own is delicious, and we loved the empanadas we tried: spinach, chicken parm and (our favorite) the Cubano. Very friendly staff and food cooked to order.
