I absolutely love this place! The fried fish is always incredibly fresh and delicious, and the service is outstanding. The other day the place was packed and I made a large order that needed a couple of cup holders. Even though the young girl at the front was super busy, she still made sure I got everything I needed. Great food and great service. I’ll definitely keep coming back!

I was in the area so I decided to grab take out. The wait was acceptable because it was really just cooking time. My food was cooked fresh. Received it hot. I was disappointed w/chicken sandwich. I didnt eat my catfish basket yet. I’ve had their catfish sandwich meal before and it was delicious so I dont expect them to disappoint. I will definitely return. And I’ll stick to the fish!

Food was good not great, enjoyed the 3 spoonfuls of soup that came with it….yummy. I thought fish sandwich and soup were too small. I was highly disappointed their tartar sauce was a commercial pre packaged one, I expected fresh. But overall still a tasty bite 14.00 for the sandwich,soup combo. Again soup was waaay too small…. emphasis on that because I wanted more soup because it was delicious best part for me.

Yesterday I ordered Clam Strips… I loved the fried clam strips. I got them fried medium and they were crispy just right! The corn bread was so good I like mine soft and theirs were made soft and right! The service was good
A month ago I had the fried fish sandwich and I was not expecting the size of that! They had like 3 or 4 pieces of big fried fish on the bread it was so good. So far I trust anything here. I’m thinking of the crab cake next im just very picky when it comes to crab cakes. I will update my review when I get it!!

This Skrimp Shack location is tops! The staff, food and facility were the best I’ve had! It was so clean I was impressed. The people were genuine and friendly, just what you hope for having a nice lunch with your daughter. What blows my mind is how darn yummy the hush puppies are, you literally cannot get them this good anywhere else!

This was my first time trying Skrimp Shack. My husband has been raving about hearing they had the best fish sandwich. I must say, to be a fast food restaurant they were extremely clean; truly nothing was out of place. The staff was there, neither friendly nor mean. I asked for recommendations, but was told she doesn’t eat the food, so she wasn’t sure what to offer. They did have the option to place your order yourself if you were paying with card. I had the shack pack with catfish (which had a $1 upgrade / whiting would have been included) with Mac and cheese, collard greens and strawberry shortcake. My hush puppies and fries weren’t fresh. You could tell they had been sitting out for quite some time. The shrimp and fish were fried but I would’ve enjoyed it, if they were fried harder. It also lacked seasoning. I think they should season the fish prior to frying it. The collard greens were sweet, overly sweet. Me, my husband and teenager daughter tried them and we all agreed (to throw them in the trash, which is exactly what we did). The Mac and cheese was made with a white, maybe queso cheese. While better than the collard greens (but that doesn’t say much) it too lacked seasoning and tasted more like box Kraft Mac and cheese than homemade or restaurant quality. Overall, food wise I was truly underwhelmed. Food wise, I probably would give 1 star but I enjoyed the strawberry shortcake so much I gave 2 stars in that category.

The catfish sandwich is HUGE and a great value. If you live the Chesapeake Bay, choose Catfish from their menu. This restaurant serves the invasive Blue Catfish harvested from Bay waters. I picked up food from an online order at the Colonial Heights location. It was a bit chaotic with a lot going on at the counter. The pickup area is not marked, but the staff was helpful in pointing out where to go and what to do. In addition to the Catfish Sandwich, I ordered fried Chicken Gizzards. 4/10 for me. The breading had a great level of spice, but the gizzards were extremely chewy. I’ve had better at other spots.
