At our Perry, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I want to commend the staff at the Perry, GA location who were working Wednesday, January 28, 2026. They were short staffed and serving a steady flow of diners during the lunch rush. There was one lady taking orders at the counter and also the drive through. The cook was doing a good job with all the different food orders. These ladies were coordinating and working as a team to get the job done. They were both very busy but they were both pleasant and professional. I heard the other customers commenting about how good the food was. Thank you.

I feel like this Captain Ds never expects any customers to show up, that’s the only explanation I can think of for the ridiculously long wait time. The food is fine, but the time it takes to get it, is not worth it. I don’t know what’s going on, but if you don’t want customers to show up, just say that.

Close this place already. Ordered a fish sandwich combo. It’s a combo so the cashier show know you get a side and a drink. No side was in the bag. I asked her for my side of okra; it took 6 minutes to get it and my drink cup was not full. The whole ordeal from waiting to order to receiving took about 25 minutes. Just save yourself the headache and go to the location on 96.

As a fellow General Manager in the food service industry—specifically in a location that also offers drive-thru and mobile ordering—I understand the challenges that come with managing peak times and ensuring a smooth customer experience.

That said, my recent visit to this Captain D’s was disappointing. The total wait time in the drive-thru exceeded 30 minutes. I’m usually patient, and I genuinely enjoy Captain D’s, so I don’t mind a bit of a wait. However, what happened during this visit was concerning.

While I was waiting over five minutes at the speaker to place my order, an SUV behind me drove around and cut the line. When I asked through the intercom whether this was normal procedure, I was told it was their General Manager “dropping off some stuff.”

Eventually, I placed my order and pulled forward—only to find the same SUV still at the window. They were handed food and continued chatting with the staff, which further delayed my ability to pull up and pay. I asked, “Does your GM also cut the line for food?” The employee replied that she had “ordered ahead” and that everything is prepared in the order received.

As someone who leads a team in this industry, I found this behavior unprofessional. Regardless of whether an order is placed ahead of time, if a customer chooses to pick it up via the drive-thru, they should wait their turn—just like everyone else. And if the order is ready and the line is long, the appropriate action would be to come inside for pickup, not disrupt the drive-thru queue.

This may seem like a small thing, but optics matter—especially when it involves leadership setting an example. Unfortunately, this experience reflected poorly on how this location is managed.

This place is SEVERELY understaffed. To the point where we had to wait 45 minutes for our order and customers had to take restocking the bathroom into their own hands. A sympathetic woman who was dining in had to replace the paper towels herself because the 2 cooks and 1 cashier were insanely busy and fell behind on orders. Napkins weren’t being restocked as well. It’s expected by now that you yourself have to clean the filth off of tables before dining in because of how cheap the franchise owner is. Even the car line hardly moved from when I came inside and left. Shame on this franchise owner for penny pinching, this location is horrible. I’m sure my critic will be passed on to the staff, but this isn’t on the staff, dysfunction like this is entirely on the owner.

Ok let me explain those of you who follow me know I try to remove emotions from all my reviews. But being a small business owner myself i understand times can be challenging. But to refuse to take orders because you are overwhelmed is unacceptable. Let’s keep it 100 everything is fried at captain D’s .
This just speaks to me of poor management or a lack of experience starting from the top.
A 1 star may be excessive but when I’m traveling my expectations are simple.
Let me get in and out in an efficient manner.

Waited stuck in drive through for 20 minutes with only 1 car in front of us. Only ordered a 2 piece fish meal. And no customers in lobby. Bad service at this location! Avoid! And broccoli had no seasoning, should have given salt and pepper out.

Exactly as expected. Which is good for us. We sat and had fish and chips with hushpuppies, fried okra, coleslaw, and broccoli. Everything was perfectly cooked and the staff was pleasant and attentive.

Food was fine! The fish was as good as long johns. The chicken was not the same and I prefer LJS chicken but I enjoyed the meal. I liked the dacor but the floors needed cleaning.

I’ve no idea how this place stays open. Can’t sell cold food because the cooler is broke. Can’t see grill food because the grill is broke. The dining room floor is so greasy you cant stand in one place without sliding around. 30 minutes for a $5 quick meal. This place needs serious help, or to just give up.
