Beautiful interior and pleasant lighting, music and overall ambiance. Very different from all other places to dine in Madison.

However, all rolls for two people were delicious and fresh. The Maki Combo is best value for your money. Miso soup is tasty. Shrimp dumplings are wonderful as well.

An update from visit on 05/27/23. By looking at all negative review fee have substance. Most people who leave those never had or will ha be their own business. So easily to spit on someone else work and livelihood. If restaurant is empty I’d be delighted. No long wait times or loudness. The food was served fresh and incredibly tasty. The interior is absolutely beautiful in comparison to most other sushi places in Madison. Highly recommend. These people work hard to service us delicious food they specialize on.

An update from all you can eat experience:
Despite many negative reviews we greatly enjoy all you can eat. Be aware that $34.95 will include service charge of $6.50. We were told that is a tip so you’ll pay upwards $43. All items were fresh, the rolls were diverse and constantly coming. Despite this being after 7pm on Saturday. Well worth as you can pay more like $60-70 at a different sushi place if ordered off menu. The rolls were from vegetarian to fresh salmon and tuna with plenty of fish in the rolls. Not rolls were basic. Highly recommend. We were pleasantly surprised.

All you can eat – Friday through Sunday 4pm-8pm.

Did you know there is conveyor belt sushi here in Wisconsin? This is a sushi restaurant with conveyor belt all-you-can-eat option. If you choose conveyor belt sushi, you are limited to mainly tuna, salmon, surimi and some yellowtail, raw and spicy and crunchy/deep-fried in nigiri and maki rolls. You will also see (per plate) a small eggroll, one crab rangoon, and two potstickers. There was cantalope, edamame, and jelly frosting cakes as well but don’t expect to find eel or octopus or anything too high-end on the conveyor belt. Thankfully there is a large menu so you can choose something you’re after. Spacious booths, brand new conveyor system, two sushi chefs working hard, clean bathrooms, and cool fish tanks and decor. We will be back.

My wife and I stopped in around 1120 on a Thursday. We got specialty roles, like the Fantastic. It was the best Sushi I have enjoyed in years. Self service ordering was a fun twist too.

Best sushi in Madison, hands down. We’ve tried them all and have eaten lots of sushi in Japan. Takara is amazing! And their lunch specials are a fantastic deal. We get it 2 – 3 times a month. Highly recommend!

Unique and tasty experience! Great variety of options on the conveyor. Rolls, sashimi, hot pot stickers, spring rolls, Rangoon, and an occasional piece of cake. You’re at the mercy of those that sit closer to the kitchen however… We got unlucky had had an inconsiderate group ahead of us at one point who took everything and left the conveyor empty. We did wait for drink refills for longer than I’d have liked. Other than that we enjoyed ourselves. Great atmosphere and decor. We’ll be back!

one of a kind sushi restaurant!!! has an ayce special that I’ve tried (and it was amazing) but I wanted to order off the menu. I loved the variety of different fresh sashimis.. it was beautifully presented. My family members ordered some of their teriyaki dinners hibachi combos, which were the “best they’ve ever had”. We also ordered some rolls which were sooo amazing and flavorful. Will definitely be coming back 🙂

Have dined many times at Takara. Don’t do the all you can eat personally, cause I love the regular food.

Sake sushi/sashimi, hibachi, rolls of many kinds and the soups/salads are great.

Excellent service everytime I’m in there.

Love it here!

This was one of the most amazing sushi experience I have ever had! The AYCE deal was definitely worth it for the various types of sushi rolls that were put out. There were appetizers and even desserts on the belt!!! I also enjoyed the nice atmosphere and the friendly staffs. They really made sure that we were satisfied and happy which is a plus for me. This restaurant will definitely be one of my favorite sushi spots to go to now. No complaints at all!

This is a great restaurant to introduce someone to sushi, however, I would not recommend this restaurant to someone that enjoys exotic rolls, as there were only basic rolls to choose from.

We did the all you can eat for $30. All the food is up for grabs from the conveyor belt that passes by your table. It’s two pieces per plate to help reduce waste. If you do end up wasting food, there is an additional charge.
The food kept coming, but I saw no one in the restaurant getting drink refills, which made me sad.

My favorite food on the conveyor belt was the sesame balls. They were filled with red bean paste and were WARM and fresh! Yummy.

Takara offers a wonderful variety of rolls and sides delivered via conveyor belt. The fish was all incredibly fresh and flavorful with unique combinations coming around every 10 minutes or so. We paid about $30/person and it’s all you can eat, so bring an appetite to make it worth your while.
