Cook’s Place is a Columbus institution. There are other items on the menu, but you come here for hot dogs, including the locally famous scrambled dog. I prefer the chili dog, and the fries are on point.

Service is fast and friendly, even during the busy lunch rush. The restaurant is decked out in a 50s vibe, grease your hair and bring the Bobby socks and poodle skirt for the full experience.

It’s like going to a friend’s house for a backyard bbq. The food quality isn’t great, but it tastes pretty good, and it’s a fun time. We paid about $25 for food + tip for two people.

The service is super friendly from both the owner/cook and the cashier. The food is quick: you order and the food is basically being plated, so your tray is ready by the time you’ve paid.

The chili dog and chili fries were good. The cheese on the cheeseburger wasn’t melted at all (I don’t think the meat was hot enough to melt the cheese). The onion rings were delicious. Soda dispenser = free refills!

It would be a good place to take kids. The restaurant is very kitschy, packed with memorabilia and tchotchkes.

I recently read an article in the Ledger Enquirer regarding Cook’s Place’s recent health inspection reports: “The Columbus restaurant that scored a “C” in its May health inspection recovered with a perfect score last month… Cook’s Place at 2521 Airport Thruway was the only restaurant to receive lower than a “B” with a score of 76 in May. Establishments that receive a “C” or “U” food safety grade will have at least one additional routine inspection added in a twelve month period, according to state law. During Cook’s follow-up inspection on June 30, the restaurant had no violations reported.” I hope they keep up the good work! It seems pretty clean; the cashier cleaned off tables and wiped down trays when no one was in line.

Fun lunch with The King. Elvis / 50s themed lunch spot with multiple combos to choose from. We went with the chili cheese dogs — all the way with pickles and jalapeños for one. VERY prompt service and friendly staff. Thanks for a wonderful meal.

I don’t know how you mess up a chili dog with ketchup. But I got a chili dog with mustard and onions and one with slaw. That’s not even close

What a fun place to get a hotdog! There are a lot of things you can put on a hotdog to make it tasty, and this place has just about everything. My favorite is mustard and jalapeno. They have sourkrout, chili, pickles, french fries, onion rings, hot sauces, whatever. It’s not a self serve, they make the hotdog for you. It’s a regular sized bun with a regular sized weenie with regular portioned toppings. But what makes these hotdogs taste so fun is the environment! It’s something from the 50’s. I wasnt even around in the 50’s, but I watched Happy Days. And the inside of this place reminds me of a mini version of Al’s Drive In (but it’s not a drive through, so please do not expect that). You first walk through a small dining area where a life sized statue of Elvis welcomes you. Turn left and you approach the ordering bar. The menu is simple. The prices are very reasonable. And the owners and staff are amazing and super friendly. You will get a tray with your hotdog on it, served with whatever you asked for. Be sure to mention “on the side” if you prefer certain toppings NOT on your doggie. I asked for extra chili and jalepenos on the side. Sit wherever you want. It’s not fancy. You ask for a hot dog and you get a hotdog, and the hotdogs are, well, just hotdogs. However, I will admit that both me and my mom did go back for seconds. They do have other stuff, I’ve attached a pic of the menu. But, the really fun part is exploring. There is old stuff all over the walls and ceiling. It really takes you back. There is stool seating, like at the old timey milkshake drug stores Or you can pick a table or a booth. There’s additional seating in a back room called the Lions Den, or maybe the Lions Room, cant remember. Old rock and roll music was playing throughout the diner the day we were there, and the staff mingled with the patrons frequently, asking if anyone needed anything. Service is very quick so me and my mom were there only about 30 min. Btw, no alcohol in case you are looking for a bloody mary or a beer. But if you have a hankering for a hotdog, go get a bite. And go back in time for bit. I really enjoyed it.

Red and the crew had done an awesome job on my order . The service was quick and they were very curtious . Friendly, down home common people. That was my first visit and the Good Lord’s will , I’ll be going back. Love the 50’s and 60’s nostalgia and the music. Food is reasonably priced. I highly recommend Cooks Hot Dogs ( Miller Rd. / Moon Rd. ) Columbus, GA – Robert L Kerns-Columbus GA
