We stopped in for a quick dinner on Sunday. Husband ordered a rack of ribs and I ordered the shrimp. Both meals came with fries, two pieces of pre buttered bread and two pieces of celery. The shrimp was okay, I didn’t use cocktail sauce as it was kind of clumped into the container. The ribs, though. They came out in a pile underneath whatever gelatinous sauce they call bbq sauce. My husband has an iron stomach… in 25 years I have never seen him refuse to eat a meal he has paid for (60$ mind you). Needless to say, we won’t be back. And highly recommend anyone looking to eat at this cafe to just…not.

My great Uncle Pete started this restaurant long, long ago and I loved going there any chance we got. Now that I live in Florida, I still crave that tangy, garlicky taste of the ribs and the fries with the sauce on them. I’ve tried and tried to match the sauce when I make my own ribs and have come close, but still don’t have the magic recipe as it has always been kept highly secret. They’re definitely not for everyone. If you’re a big foodie or you expect traditional BBQ from the south, you need to think out of the box for these. They are definitely uniquely delicious. For those of us who grew up on them, when we think about them we crave them!! Same with Skyline Chili, if you know you know.

We’ve lived in Findlay 22 years and have never been. I know there was a change in ownership but I don’t know what all the hype is about. Definitely not the best ribs I have ever had. The ribs themselves were actually big and meaty and well prepared but the sauce is a weird oniony mix and not something I would have again on purpose. We also got the chicken which was really good once you got most of the sauce off but not something I would go out of my way for. The fries were thin but good. The salad was meager and over priced and they don’t have ranch dressing. The service was satisfactory but impersonal. We went at 7pm on a Monday night and we were nearly the only ones there so the atmosphere was pretty non existent. There were two TVs playing sitcom reruns. There is also a TouchTunes jukebox and Keno games.
All in all I can think of at least 10 other places that I would rather spend $25-30/person to eat.

I wasn’t a fan of the bbq sauce was chunky and had a vinegar taste. My husband on the other hand loved it! It was so bad I couldn’t eat it just not to my liking. The service however was amazing! It was crazy busy but if you were going to judge busy by service we would have thought we were only ones there. Our waitress checked and double checked on us not once did we feel forgotten amongst the crazy that there on Valentine’s Day.

45 minute trek to try some ribs. Also my 1st time here. The waitress was great. She brought us a sample of the barbecue sauce explaining that was the only type that they had. The chicken with the barbecue sauce was pleasantly good and very moist.I was quite surprised at how tender the St Louis ribs were. Price versus value is spot on. The menu is very limited but that’s just the way that it is and it was all fine. The home style moist wash rags were a nice touch and also much needed.

Ribs were cooked well. The sauce isn’t for me. The fries are okay and the side of bread was dry and inedible. Food came out real quick. Pretty sure everything is just sitting back there waiting to be served. Never got a refill on my drink. The moist hand towel was real nice.

Prices have increased a bit. Food was delicious as always but I won’t be getting a bowl of lettuce again for $3.25…our server was on point and took good care of us.
