I happen to see an ad come up for Cocoa cabana and I had never been to this restaurant. It’s a little different. It’s a Dominican and Spanish, which I had never tried. My friend and I went for lunch. The restaurant wasn’t very busy so we were seated right away by some friendly staff members. Our drinks were taken and we placed our food order. I enjoyed some of the food, but there were I guess some flavors that I just didn’t care for. The food was not presented in an attractive way and there was a lot more rice and very mushy, runny beans. I did find a few pieces of chicken in my meal. The portion size looked large, but, again, there was more rice and more of the beans that spread out across the plate. I have to say that giving a rating of four stars is being, in my opinion, very generous. The service was great top notch. But I just didn’t care for the flavor of the food. Will I go back? No I will not. But if you’ve not tried this flavor of food then you should give Cococabana a try. Both my friend and I were unable to finish our food because we didn’t care for the taste so we brought it home. The decor was authentic, Dominican, Spanish and American. I will say the empanadas were good. Not the best that I’ve ever had, but they were good. The bread they brought out was smashed almost completely flat resembling a very thick chip. The tea had a bit of an artificial taste, which I didn’t care for. And in the restroom, there was a very large hole in the floor, probably a drain hole, but that could have been something someone could have stepped in and fallen and created an accident. That should be addressed. But the entire restaurant, bathroom included, was very clean.

Happy to find this little gem. Got the Pernil Jibarito (Pork sandwich that uses fried plantain as the bread) with white rice and red beans, and it was GOOD – juicy Pernil and the best red beans I’ve had in this area hands down. Also had to try their Fritura platter (fried foods) and that was good to go, as well. Loved that their tostones (fried plantain) weren’t greasy and were crispy, just right The atmosphere was great – Dominican music playing – But the best part was the service; the young lady that served us was very attentive, had a great sense of humor and even though we were FULL, she got us a delicious slice of Flan and fresh Cafe con Leche, A+++ GRACIAS

A small clean restaurant with great food. I got the whole red snapper and substitute rice and beans with salad and green plantain. It was amazing. The fish was fresh and tasty. I don’t normally eat plantain but I finished all of them. The service was excellent. All the customers there were happy with their foods. There were a lot of repeat customers.

Delicious. We enjoyed empanadas, sandwiches, rice, beans, and more. The beans were soooo good. If you are vegetarian get the red & black beans and a side of yellow rice. We will be back. Definitely check this place out. Super nice server as well.

I had the rice beans and steak with onions and tostones. I also had an alcapurria and to drink I had a passion fruit juice. I must say everything was delicious. My first time here. I am from Orlando and it was worth the drive here to eat. The service was excellent. I will be back soon.
