Reviews
just maybe on to something new with this type of cuisine
I also tried their za’atar pie and cheese pie, and both reminded me of traditional Middle Eastern street food, done right. You can taste the care and quality in every bite. Definitely one of the best new takeout spots in Yonkers! Highly recommend.
I would also Uber this.
I used to grab a bite here back when it was still an actual auto body shop—it’s heartwarming to see the incredible transformation. They’ve built a brand-new, state-of-the-art restaurant and kitchen from the ground up, and it’s truly impressive.
There’s little more to add except that the shawarma here is exceptional. The concept is unique and engaging, with a highly customizable menu that includes bowls, wraps, and a variety of other dishes. I opted for the shawarma on my first visit, and it was absolutely five-star quality—I’ll update this review with photos soon.
The spot is impeccably clean, far exceeding what the surrounding neighborhood might suggest.
I highly recommend giving it a try! I grabbed mine to go and savored it by the river, but it was so delicious that I forgot to snap a photo of the sandwich before diving in.
Here’s what I tried in the order I tried it:
The Kibbeh and Falafel were exceptionally crispy and both had that distinct crunch you can only get when something is made fresh. The flavors were delicious and the textures were incredibly on point.
The Muhammarah was also absolutely incredible. The flavors were well executed and balanced. It was tart, sweet, savory, and fresh all at the same time. Compliments to the chef; the flavors were beautifully complex and well crafted.
The hummus…. Honestly? I don’t think I can buy store bought hummus anymore. The texture was velvety and the flavor was extremely mild with the right amount of spice. It was really on another level.
And then my platter. It had: Chicken Kabab, rice, pickled turnips, onions, tomato, feta cheese, and cucumber with Toum and green sauce as the sauce choices. The chicken had an incredible texture and was seasoned incredibly well. The toppings really helped balance one another. I was pleasantly surprised by the pickled turnips which I felt really brought everything together. I was surprised by the toum too; it had that right amount of fresh garlic flavor without overpowering anything else.
I’ll tell you what I told my mother: this is probably the only place I’ll eat from if I want chicken and rice going forth. Genuinely, nothing compares to just how well executed this was.
I will DEFINITELY be ordering more from The Shawarma Station in the future. The food from here is nothing short of being a poem of love, passion, and pride for the culture it represents. This place absolutely deserves more recognition, and frankly some accolades too.
