Probably the best mexican restaurant in Canada!
The experience is authentic, margaritas are insane, and the food… just wow!
We tried everything and just can’t decide what I like best. Maybe enchiladas…
Oh, and also, the service was great! And one waiter, Fabian, does this thing: when you ask him to take a photo of the whole gang at the table, he also takes a selfie – Fabian selfie 🙂
Definetly come back here

Our first time here and unfortunately while the food was good and the server was excellent the kitchen completely messed up and we waited at least 40 minutes for our meal with others that came way after us eating before us.

The birria tacos were excellent and so was the appetizer we ordered.

Hopefully the next time we come the kitchen won’t fail us. Our server was very apologetic and definitely was not her fault.

First time visiting and very impressed. Food was good with huge portions. Drinks were AMMAAZZINGG! Pricey but worth it, though I think they could be bigger. Limoncello margarita was tied with coconut margarita for best drink. My friend (who had the limoncello) said it was better than any drink she’d had all last week at an all-inclusive in Mexico! Great service, fun vibe. We will definitely be back.

We’re from out of town and my sister-in-law and brother-in-law recommended this place for my 50th birthday celebration. It was a great night to celebrate with my brother-in-law who also turned 50. This is their regular go to spot and I can see why. Delicious food and drinks. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Definitely recommend going to El Patron.

I always enjoy my time at El Patron! From the beautiful interior, the friendly staff, and amazing food there is no way you cant!! The birria tacos are always a must for me. Ive also tried the chicken quesadilla (kids size shown), and chorizo fries (not pictured) which are also amazing. Their rice deserves a special shout according to my brother. Their espresso martinis are also a must if you are a fan. I love their monthly special menu as it gives you something new to try on your next visit (If you can wait that long).

The restaurant is in an attractive and unique building (but you’ll need help getting in, if you use a wheelchair). Inside, it is colourful and festive in a Mexican theme, with recorded music.

Unfortunately we found the service to be slow. We were told that our order was delayed due to someone else’s large take-out order. This strikes me as an inversion of the proper order. Dine-in lunch customers don’t have the option of wasting time.

Like at a few other Canadian restaurants, there is a charge for chips and salsa. They are good, but I don’t buy chips and salsa. Neither should you.

The street tacos al pastor were packed full, which is great. But they were flavourless, which is quite a perplexing achievement in Mexican.

The beans and rice sides were both pretty good though.

I really wanted to like this place, because it looks fantastic and I love both Mexican and Tex-Mex food.

This was our first dining experience with El Pastor this evening. We heard and read great reviews of the food and staff. Erica greeted us at the door upon arriving and was then our waitress. Her smile was very welcoming and friendly. We came for dinner at 5:30pm and so glad we did because the restaurant filled up very quickly after our arrival. The decor inside was so beautiful and they had a beautiful mural of a Mexican skeletal female portrait and lovely colourful papel picado throughout the restaurant. We were there with my cousin and his husband to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We each ordered a drink, I had a classic margarita, my cousin had this beautiful flaming mai Thai, and my husband and my cousin’s husband had a como la flore.
The drinks were amazing, especially the flaming mai Thai was an impressive table side show.
We shared a platter of chips with 3 salsas, guacamole, queso and their mild salsa. Omg, when I say, the guacamole and their house salsa was the best we ever had. You can taste the freshness. For our main, I did their chimichanga with beef tongue ( yes beef tongue) was so delicious and tender, the beef melted in my mouth. My husband had their birria tacos, my cousin had their burrito meal with chorizo and his husband had the birria pizza. Had a taste of the birria pizza, reminded me of a quesadilla but dipped in the birria broth. So yummy. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Even made a little space for dessert with their churros which were crispy outside and fluffy inside. My husband had one of their February specials which was a cheesecake served on a chocolate crust and strawberry sauce. He loved it. Erica then offered a birthday churro for my husband also which he enjoyed also. Excellent dinning experience and definitely will be back. As for the cost, very very reasonable. For the 4 of us with all the above tax included was $223. The portion were more than enough, I took my half of chimichanga home. The only complaint which is not really was the wait time half way through became a bit long but Erica was very busy and she was very apologetic each time when things took longer. The restaurant at that point was quite busy and she was running table to table. Thank you El Pastor for a great dinning experience and looking forward to our next visit. Thank to Erica for her hospitality and service!

Where do I start? There are many amazing things to say about this place. From the ambiance, to the service, to the spectacular food and crafted cocktails, I had the best girls night out last night during their Latin Night. Their spicy coconut margarita and s’mores espresso martini was like a religious experience. I would recommend this place every single time.

We went for dinner and sat ourselves, not realizing a host was required. The staff made a huge fuss about a “waiting list,” even after serving us water—without cups. Our food and drinks eventually arrived—without utensils—and both tables next to us stayed dirty for over 30 minutes, despite no other customers being seated. The staff clearly lacked urgency and attention.

Worse, after leaving a generous tip, our server, Savannah, spoke rudely to my ten-year-old daughter. Completely inappropriate. My daughter calmly told her, “Have some respect, or we’ll never return.”
