We’re visiting from Seattle, and our friend took us to this amazing Laos restaurant. The food was delicious and authentic — full of flavor and beautifully presented. Nan was our server and she takes a very good care of us. We truly enjoyed every dish and the warm hospitality. Highly recommended!

Whoa. I love spicy food. But ordering medium here was super spicy. And it would’ve been fine if there was flavor to it but I couldn’t taste the actual food whixh usually means it’s probably pretty bland. My partner who can’t candle spicy enjoyed the pad ped red curry which surprisingly was the least spicy thing of the 4 items we ordered.

Best authentic Lao food restaurant ever. The Lao style pho and the beef laab was awsome. My favorite was the Luang Prabang style papaya salad…

We ordered:
– PHA KHAO LAO
Ping Kai (grilled chicken wing), Gaeng Nor Mai (bamboo shoots), Tum Mak Houng (Lao papaya salad), Lao tomato paste, and sticky rice
– PAD PED (Lao Red Curry)
– LAO BBQ BEEF
Grilled beef with house-made spice sauce
– LAO SAUSAGES
House-made pork sausages with fresh herbs (lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, garlic, red onion, green onion)
– Thai Ice Tea, Lychee Tea, Passion Fruit Tea

Everything tasted really good even tho we weren’t big fans of the bamboo shoots. The lao red curry, Lao bbq beef and the mango sticky rice were unanimous on my table of 4.

Laos food in San Diego? Oh Yeah!
Forget searching for authentic Laotian food in San Diego – just go to Pha Khao! Every single dish was packed with those incredible, real-deal flavors.
We started with Nam Khao – crispy, tangy, perfect and came with all the fixings lettuce, fresh herbs, banana flower. Then came the amazing Laos sausage and the comforting Khao Poon noodle soup. The beef larb was super fresh and zesty, just how it should be.
The 3 flavor fried fish was a total showstopper, hitting all the right notes. And the crab fried rice was a delicious and full with crab meat. For papaya salad fans, the Tum Luangprabang was next-level good. We finished with the creamy, rich Mee KA tee (coconut curry noodles).
And the service? Five-star, all the way. The servers were on it, friendly, and made the whole experience even better.
Seriously, if you’re in San Diego, you have to try Pha Khao Laos Cuisine. You’ll leave happy, full! Next time we’re in town we’ll have to try their soups!

Had the crab Rangoon and kha phiak sen, the most affordable Lao spot in San Diego (I won’t name the other two lol)

Nice quant environment with a glimpse into the Lao lifestyle.

You can tell the owner was very selective and passionate when opening this restaurant.

The service was amazing and I can’t say enough positive things about this place. I highly encourage you to check it out. 10/10 would recommend to a friend!

The three of us had lunch today and found everything delicious. The service was attentive and our server answered our questions and made suggestions when the sole vegan person in our party asked for recommendations. Minor point: While the home-made hot chili garlic sauce that came in the condiments tray was super delicious, we wished we had been told that it contains crisply-fried pork rind chunks, especially as we made it known to our server that one of us was a vegan. Another minor point / suggestion: Try offereing some lunch time specials (at more afforable prices) so more people (including students) can get to know their delicious Lao foods. OVERALL = GREAT PLACE with fresh, delicious home-made Lao delicaties (including yummy Mok). Highly Recommended.

I’m Lao and my mom is one of the best Lao cooks. We ordered the Mee Ka tee because it’s one of my favorite soup (i always ask my mom to make it when I’m home) and it was incredible! It was full of flavor and I wish I didn’t have to share with my party. We also ordered Nam Khao, super good! The Kua mee Lao was delicious and my kids loved it. We will definitely be back and bringing all of our visitors!
