I visited this establishment over a week ago. The set up of the restaurant is nice. I liked the R&B music playing in the background. Our waitress was on point the entire night, with some of her suggestions on the menu and her attentiveness. Now let’s get down to the food. Heard great things about this place, but was a bit disappointed. The Heiress cocktail was great no complaints whatsoever. For our appetizer we went with the Crab cake, it wasn’t hot, it was room temperature, we requested another one. The Cajun Pasta was good, but it had no spice at all. You can’t call it Cajun with no spice. My date said the Glazed chicken and collard greens were missing something. The Potato Au Gratin tasted good, but needed more potatoes and less liquid.

Celebrated my birthday at this new gem of a place in the South Loop. And what a great evening it was! The decor is warm, spacious but cozy, elegant. The service was great, our server was attentive (he was so soft spoken and polite!) and recommdations were really good. Good cocktail selection. But..the Fried Green Tomatoes!!! I will go again just for these!!!! The cajun pasta was delicious. Portions are quite generous, so we shared. Overall, a great place and definitely will go again. This is an upgrade SLoop desperately needed. 10/10

Went for a lunch reservation on Valentine’s Day. Our server was Myles who was very nice and had great recommendations. We did wait for over an hour to get our food. Spoke to the manager who was very nice, apologized for the wait and explained they had lots of call offs. The manager was extremely accommodating comping our drinks and dessert and discounting the rest. The food was absolutely delicious. We loved every bite.

I went during restaurant week with a group of friends and absolutely loved this place! I loved all of the food and drinks we ordered. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because my steak was slightly rubbery. However, I did order it medium well and I understand everyone’s opinion on steak wellness varies.

My friends and I decided to order a variety of sides so that we could share and try them all. Each side dish was SPECTACULAR! 5/5, 10/10.

I cannot remember the name of the drink I ordered, but that was also 5/5.

I finally made it to Southern Chicago on Christmas Day and overall it was a great experience. We had reservations right around opening, which I am very glad we did because the place filled up fast.

Our waitress started us off with a thorough rundown of the menu and gave great feedback when we had questions. The drinks were excellent. Sadly I cannot remember the names, but they were definitely a highlight. The food kept coming and everyone in our group enjoyed their meals.

As service picked up midway through, things did slow down a bit. There were a few moments where food runners mixed up tables, and it happened more than once. Still, nothing that completely took away from the experience.

The decor was stunning, very cozy with live music that added to the vibe. Dessert sealed the deal for me. The key lime pie was absolutely delicious. We used the InKind app to pay and received a welcome gift through the website linked to the app, which was a nice savings after spending so much money. Bonus points for valet parking being available. It was a plus it was very close to my home as well.

Ambience and front of the house was promising.

Our table had the crab cake, fried chicken, red velvet waffle, eggs, oysters, lobster bisque, chicken pasta, and Short Rib Benedict.

The oysters and crab cake were good. Everything else was ok and took quite a bit of time to make it to the table. Our glasses were often empty and we went noticeable periods of time with no service.

I’d love to go back and sit at the bar. This time with a little hot sauce, salt, and pepper in my bag.

Hoping they can work out the kinks because the restaurant is beautiful and much needed in the south loop.

Update: I went back and my second experience was much better. Great drinks, server, and food.

I still believe they should put some salt & pepper on the table, and some crisp on the Brussels, but overall a better experience worth supporting

Came for Restaurant week 2026. Our server Rich was amazingly hilarious and very truthful about the menu. Those buttermilk biscuits were slammin’ and the prawn although one piece for restaurant week, was very good and had me wanting more! Everything was delicious and I loved the music that was playing! Definitely have to come back.

Love the decor when you walk in. The noise was moderate. Music selection was great. Only complaint is some songs were LOUDER. Andrea (hopefully I spelled that rt) was our waitress. She was very consistent. She knew the menu perfectly and made great suggestions. I can appreciate a waitress/waiter who actually knows the menu. My friend and I ordered thefried green tomatoes, fried chicken, Cajun greens, and Mac and cheese. The tomatoes were very delectable. The sauce they give with them tasted more like a garlic aioli than a remoulade sauce. I like garlic so complaints from me on that but I wouldn’t call it a remoulade. The greens were collard. They were good but definitely didn’t taste any Cajun seasoning. The fried chicken was fried to perfection but we weren’t a fan of the maple glaze it was drenched in, idk if you can get it without the glaze but that would be my suggestion. The mac and cheese was appetizing but I wouldn’t call it mac and cheese. The consistency was similar to watery alfredo sauce. We also had the sweet potatoes. Which were medallion cut on top of a puree sweet potato. They give you three but 1.5 were burnt so could only try the inside of it. The puree was delicious. We ordered the sticky date cake. The sticky date cake needs some work. It was a bit dried out.

Visited for the first time on a Thursday night and was pleasantly surprised after feeling unsure from the FAQs. I was greeted right away and waited at the bar until my party arrived. The ambiance is excellent, relaxed lighting, and smooth R&B that really sets the mood.

Bar service was a little slow since only one bartender was working, but once she got to me, my Old Fashioned was perfect. Our server, Andrea, was fantastic, attentive, friendly, and spot‑on with her recommendations.

We ordered the Cornbread Skillet, Crab Cake, Calamari, and Shrimp & Caviar Deviled Eggs, plus the Barrel Aged Maple Fried Chicken, Bone‑In Rib Eye, and Lobster Mac & Cheese. Every dish was outstanding. The chicken was incredibly moist, my steak was slightly overseasoned but still excellent, and the lobster mac was a hit.

My only downsides were the slow bar response and the surprisingly high price for sparkling water. The food itself is absolutely worth it, though.

I’ll definitely be back, especially to try the happy hour—and this is a spot I’d bring friends for special occasions.
