I haven’t had a good home cooked meal in a while. They have exceeded my expectations. The portions were healthy and the food(pig feet) was delicious. Definitely gave my Mom a run for her money. 5 Star service and taste. I had to do a before and after.

Believe it or not, Ive been reviewing for 20 years and this is review # 1 million!! I review Urban delicates to Fine Dining.
I drove from Fleming Island to West Jacksonville to review. Soul Food Express.
In 20 years, I’ve only given 10 five stars. Let’s make it 11. My first five-star in 2024.
Let’s get into it. Fried chicken that melts in your mouth with a firm hard crunch on the exterior that has a juicy interior that melts, actually melts in your mouth. I got a ton of food so I called over back up. My 3 best friends have joined me in this review.
Next up, Fried pork chop, Wow! It was fried perfectly. Just the right amount of seasoning and the perfect temperature. Bravo!
Next up, we feasted on a plate of Chitterlings, mac and cheese, and green beans. Taste like Grandma is locked in the back kitchen and won’t leave. It was incredibly good. You are also given a choice of three breads, an awesome corn muffin, which I honestly don’t know how it’s prepared. It tastes like a baked muffin yet somehow deep-fried. So good! You can go for the cornbread or the bread pudding bread. The cornbread “bread pudding” bread is not anything I ever tried and it’s phenomenal. From the photos, you also see a drink. It is their signature drink, its a glass of sunshine and a rainbow of fruit flavors. The large cup filled four of those glasses.
This place was the true surprise of my year. Thank you to my fans who told me to try it. I’m also humbled by the loving people who had fabulous patience with me explaining every item. I felt a sort of community, hard to explain. It’s the same with the food, what makes soul food different from southern food. You can taste the love, the community.

The Soul Food Express is a soul food restaurant. There is no dine in seating available, so you must get your order to go. The staff was hospitable. The food is ready when they open the doors, but they do fry the chicken fresh. The food is okay. My Smothered Turkey Wings lacked seasoning. The Sweet potato pie was a disappointment. The Barbecue Pigfeet was delicious, even my daughters ate them up. I am willing to give Soul Express another try.

Finally found a great soul food spot that’s not PH Bistro. It’s a hot box inside, but they have a pretty extensive menu and the food is not salty and great. Only dropping a star because, it’s far from EXPRESS! My wait time standing in line was 45 min – 1 hr. Maybe some strategizing around that matter may be beneficial.

We found this restaurant on google . I was looking for smothered turkey wings, they were Absolutely delicious! The turkey wings were fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with rich, savory flavor. The gravy was perfectly seasoned and smothered every bite just right. Comfort food at its finest—definitely a must-try for anyone who loves soul-satisfying, home-cooked goodness! My husband had the fried chicken. Every bite was delicious.

This use to be my FAVORITE place. I live in Atlanta now and I couldn’t wait to get here. My food was cold, it was 11:49 a.m. I order chicken and rice. Next day 12:30 p.m. food was cold again food doesn’t taste heart felt like it use to. So disappointed
