I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Morrison’s yet. What an absolute gem of a place.

The food is delicious, the staff and owner are just so incredibly warm and friendly.

Every time my wife and I visit, we’re impressed by the atmosphere, the cheer, the service, music and the food.

The food! We’ve been to many “Irish” style food places, and none come close to the quality and selection of Irish comfort food.

Everything is made with such care. Also, an excellent whiskey selection!

I love Thursdays, with live music. Everyone gets involved in singing. This is easily my favorite pub/bar.

I remember Morrison’s being featured on “Small Business Revolutions”. I hope they’re doing well, now. They deserve all the love.

Good vibes and a solid food and drink menu. I got the cottage pie and the flavors were good, but it could have been seasoned better. The chips had a really interesting tang to them! I highly recommend. Our waitress was super cool and it’s a great low-key place to grab a bite or a drink in Alton.

I felt like I was in Ireland! The Guinness was fresh and tasty. We left before the music started. I will have to go back for the food. This place was hopping! Great service and atmosphere.

Had a great time at this historic pub. Great folks and outstanding food. Highly recommend the bog pony and grilled cheese, the best meal during our visit. Was such a treat to have Smithwicks on tap. Awesome live music, Paul was great. If you’re visiting Alton, it’s a must visit. Within walking distance to the scenic highway, the old prison, the casino, shops, Mac’s, etc. Loved this experience

What a cozy Irish pub nestled in the heart of Downton Alton! It’s a small establishment but they were able to accommodate our group of 8 ☘️

This is a little sweet spot for some good old fashioned Irish Pub vibes. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere while crowded tells you this is a popular place to be. I wish I could have stayed longer into the evening but even late afternoon was a hot spot. Got out of there just as a big bus pulled up. The only negative I have is the place smells a bit. The service was fast and friendly even with a ton of questions. Will definitely go back. Also, they had live music. Nothing big but a plus for sure. Just some easy listening while eating.

I didn’t eat here so I couldn’t judge that food but everything else was wonderful.
Service was very excellent.
That gentleman was playing a guitar and a banjo and singing Irish songs. What a treat!!!!!

Morrison’s Irish Pub – Alton, IL

We finally stopped into Morrison’s and it delivered that cozy, old-world Irish pub charm you want when you walk through those doors.

I had the Irish cheese sandwich, Justin went with the corned beef — and both were genuinely good. Comforting, hearty, and exactly what you hope for in a pub meal.

Now… the kitchen was moving a bit slow this visit. Was it noticeable? Yes.
Was it worth the wait? Also yes.

Because Sam — the female bartender — absolutely made the experience. Fun, engaging, and the kind of personality that makes you feel like you’re already a regular even if it’s your first visit. That kind of service turns a “slow day” into a good memory.

The menu is packed with authentic Irish favorites, and honestly, next time we’re absolutely going to lean fully into the classics — because this feels like a place that does traditional comfort food right.

One small wish: I really wish they made their own chips. The bagged chips were a little lackluster and felt like a missed opportunity next to an otherwise hearty, made-with-care menu.

Overall: a great spot that was likely just having an off day — and still absolutely worth your time.

Don’t leave without ordering the pear cider.
It is absolutely fabulous. Bright, crisp, lightly sweet, and dangerously drinkable. ✨

We’ll be back — and we’re coming hungry.

We stopped here during Grafton bike week, all other restaurants/bars had an hour wait time just to order food. But this place had super quick and friendly service, easy parking. Amazingggg angus burgers. You have to try one if you stop here, probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Super cool atmosphere too!

I absolutely loved this Irish Pub!! It has an authentic Ireland feel to it with the decorations, live band playing irish/celtic music, the food and drinks even felt homey. I’m not much for whiskey but I went ahead and tried one of their Irish whiskey cocktails and it was really good especially for the fall cool weather!
I’m also allergic to dairy and they were amazing in making sure nothing I ate had dairy which I greatly appreciated.
I felt I could stay there for hours just listening to the music and enjoying the cozy quaint place.
The drink i tried was the Honey I’m home which had a warm ginger taste with the sweetness of honey and lemon.
The food I had Irishman burger which was delicious even though I couldn’t have some of the items like horseradish which they make with sour cream
