Ah, Torero’s Taqueria. You know you’re in for a culinary adventure when your favorite Mexican spot is wedged between a teriyaki stand and a bubble tea kiosk. Torero’s Taqueria, located in the Crossroads Mall food court — aka the Bermuda Triangle of lunch decisions — has been around longer than my New Year’s resolutions. It’s changed names more times than a witness in a mob trial, but the food? Oh, the food is shockingly good.

I know what you’re thinking: “Food court Mexican? Was the Chipotle line too long?” But hear me out. This place serves up camarones a la diabla that’ll make you question every shrimp you’ve ever met. It’s got flavor, it’s got heat, it’s got that “I should’ve brought a second napkin” kind of kick. And the warm tortillas on the side? Like little edible blankets for your spicy seafood sadness.

Now, they have started skimping on the shrimp. I counted. I got six. Six! That’s not camarones a la diabla, that’s camarón a la disappointment. But the sauce is so good, I’d probably eat it poured over a shoe. A clean shoe. Maybe a Croc.

Service is fast and friendly, which is rare in a mall food court, where the usual vibe is “I’m trapped in a fluorescent-lit purgatory.” And even though you’re supposed to bus your own table, someone always comes by and does it for you. It’s like mall magic. Or guilt-based hospitality.

Of all the food options in the mall, Torero’s is the one I trust. It’s the culinary equivalent of that one friend who always shows up on time and never asks to borrow money.

As famed Mexican food critic Don Ernesto de la Salsa once said:

“Torero’s camarones a la diabla are like a telenovela: dramatic, spicy, and slightly underfunded.”

Go. Eat. Regret nothing. Except maybe wearing white.

This is typical mall food. I ordered carne asada and it was ok but quite average, and I could tell the ingredients weren’t fresh. There are better restaurants in Crossroads Mall and certainly better Mexican food restaurants in Bellevue.

I had not been to Toreros for a while, probably before the pandemic. Was in Crossroads Mall so decided to give it a try. Ordered the 2 item combo with chicken enchilada and pork Tamale. I’ve had this same order at many Mexican restaurants, as I’m sure most people have. Wasn’t expecting anything special. But let me tell you, this 2 item combo plate was masterfully done. The plate is big, larger than most places. On this big plate, they provided healthy portions of fresh and fluffy rice, an Enchilada that was well seasoned, a Tamale with wonderful corn masa and seasoned pork. The beans were on point. A surprise on this plate was the delicious pickled cabbage and veggies. This is what really made this plate stand out. The pickled veggies was a nice addition. Staff here were very friendly when taking my order. The food came out hot and fast. I will be back more often and will recommend this place for a sit down Mexican meal.

Moved to Bellevue 2 years ago, and tried a lot of different Mexican restaurants near the area. Torero’s has the best traditional Mexican tacos I’ve had in the area! I usually order Asada tacos with the “burnt red salsa” and “green salsa”.

The asada meat has a nice combination of crisp and tenderness. The tortas and soups in the winter are a hit for me too.

Service is great and the food is consistent which is why it took 2years for me to write this. This location deserves more love.

Make no mistake: this is restaurant quality food not “mall food court” quality.

Made fresh with an expansive menu and located next to a variety of other cuisines I’d recommend to anyone who is looking for a quick meal.

Really good service! I appreciate that she gave me exactly what I wanted. Food looked fresh and we watched her make fresh guacamole. I’m happy I stopped by.

There are plenty better Mexican restaurants in the area. This place is below average and unfortunately not worth the time or money.

Bland mall food in a food court setting. I had the Expresso burrito. The source cream and guac that came with it we lead than a teaspoon each. Red sauce had no spice. You can do better.

my experience there with the lady working front counter is rude and feels she’s entitled to not serve or give exceptional customer service .

I asked her twice in a friendly manner to refill my water with ice & she told me to say PLEASE first so she can refill it.

Latino ppl sometimes are very biased rude & unapologetic to other Latinos it’s very bad customer service especially if you are working for tips & your prices are sky rocket expensive for a Mexican restaurant it’s not what I’m used to.
