The crab fried rice was quite nice and definitely the highlight of the meal. However, the Pad Thai was just okay; it lacked that signature depth of flavor, and it felt like the kitchen might have been struggling a bit with the heat control on the wok. It’s not a destination spot that I’d go out of my way for, but it’s a decent enough option if you are near the station and hungry.

We had a set lunch menu which turned out to be disappointing. Starter fish cake was terrible – it looked like something frozen bought from iceland and we could not taste any fish. My main dish didn’t have any peppers or pineapple as described and my plate had to be replaced.

today I came back for dinner after a long break .
Tasty again .
I love Thai cuisine .
Coconut soup, rice with vegetables and beef it looked and tasted fresh
The portions are large enough to fill you up .
A short time ago I was at another Thai restaurant in the center of Oxford and I was not satisfied there. I will say that Bangkok house is number 1 for me in terms of taste .
I will definitely come back 🙂
But you need to work on your tea
Unfortunately, pouring hot water into the sachet is not enough

I would like to share some feedback from our visit yesterday evening at 8:00 Saturday 14th February 2026.
I am extremely disappointed with our recent visit to Bangkok House in Oxford city centre.
We have been loyal customers for many years and always loved coming here, but since the location moved, the quality has completely gone downhill.
We had a reservation for 8pm on Valentine’s Day and were really looking forward to a special evening. Instead, we experienced some of the worst service we’ve ever had. We waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food with absolutely no communication from staff. No updates, no apologies, no reassurance — nothing. When we eventually asked a staff member what was happening, we were simply told “the kitchen is very busy.” That was it.
When the food finally arrived, it was incredibly disappointing. The chicken and basil had virtually no flavour at all — completely bland and nothing like the dishes we’ve enjoyed here in the past. The starter portions were shockingly small as well.
To pay £80 for a meal we didn’t enjoy, after being kept waiting so long and leaving much later than planned, was extremely frustrating.
Sadly, this experience has completely put us off returning.

Pretty good. I was expecting it to be bad because there wasn’t much people when we went but once we got our food it got packed. The place is clean, decorations and environment was interesting and very exotic south Asian. A great place for groups. Plenty of space. Service was attentive and food appeared quickly. I really liked the chicken pad thai. Would definitely recommend!!!!!

Its private but not dingy, the food is genuine thai and the best thing ive ever eaten, highly recomend the king prawn fried rice and fish cake starter, fish cakes like you have never known. Wasnt pressured to leave after eating very welcoming as we came through the door. Professional but not cold. Honestly its become one of my favourite places to go for food. Price is also brilliant and ypu get a good quanity of food.
