My husband ordered a cheese burger and fries and I had the Agave burger with jalapeños and fries. It was one of the best burgers we’ve had in a long time. The owner was very nice, I believe his name is Eric, and I just loved his little boy. I carry kids toys, a magnifying glass with a light, I gave him one and he was very happy. His dad and I talked about how important children are. We will definitely eat there again.

Overall, this is a great stop in Ajo. The service was great. The burgers were delicious. The sweet potato fries were nice and salty and crispy. All in all, this is a great little restaurant to stop and enjoy a meal.

Agave Grill – A Disappointing Return
We first visited Agave Grill in Ajo, AZ, about seven or eight years ago, not long after it had opened. At the time, we were thoroughly impressed—not just with the food, but with the entire experience. The owner was passionate, full of energy, and eager to share his vision for the restaurant. He even sat at our table, describing in detail his process for seasoning the meat before preparing the burger patties. That enthusiasm was contagious, and our whole group left raving about the place.
Fast-forward to today, and we were excited to return, eager to see how the restaurant had evolved. Sadly, it hadn’t lived up to the dream the owner had once shared with us.
While the burger was still good, it didn’t stand out the way we remembered. The magic we once felt was missing. Service was noticeably slow, and the same man we had met years ago seemed disengaged, lacking the passion and energy that had once made Agave Grill special. Instead of the warm, enthusiastic welcome we remembered, we were met with a curt, unenthusiastic attitude.
It’s always tough when a place you once loved doesn’t live up to your memories. Agave Grill was once a standout, but on this visit, it was just another average stop. Here’s hoping it can find its spark again.

One of the premier spots for dinner in Ajo, AZ. The Ruben sandwich for me and Nacho Salad for my wife were filling entrées. We had orders to go, but our camp hosts were there for a sit down dinner and their dinner drinks looked great. They are regulars and suggested this place to me. Great service . Going back for sure. Tuesday is Taco nite, might be good for Tacos and Magueritas.

Grabbed some dinner here right before they closed. The inside has lots of character with local artwork, and cabin diner feel. They have a pretty great selection in their menu. I got a salad and my husband got a chicken sandwich. They are very generous with their portions, and everything we got was delicious. Highly recommend it.
Also, thank you to Eric, he took our order. He was very welcoming and friendly. Definitely will be coming back next time I’m in town.

We heard the burgers were great so we picked up a couple to go on our way through Ajo. Cute place. Would love to hang out on the back patio someday. The burgers were as good as we’d heard. Thick, grilled patties with melted cheddar, crisp lettuce and all the fixings with super crispy sweet potato fries. Delicious!

We were over at the Agave Grill last night and I have to tell you that it’s a comfortable place with great food and service to match! Eric was busy taking care of everyone and yet was able to get to use and get our order with drinks arriving promptly. The kitchen was busy, but they had our Fried Green Beans out before I could finish my first beer. The Chicken sandwich was tender and juicy and the Sweet Potato Fries are off the hook as well!
When you’re in Ajo and looking for a good place for some drinks and food, give the Agave Grill a try and I think you’ll enjoy it too!!!
