I should have been put on alert when at lunchtime this place was nearly empty.
I had the Chicken Alfredo with Garlic bread.
Sauce was watery and without flavor. The noodles were ok. Bread was best part of meal.

Disappointed Experience During a Meaningful Family Visit
I’m visiting Cedar Rapids from Arizona to spend time with my goddaughters before traveling to the Philippines — nearly 8,000 miles away. This is going to be our last family meals together until June 2026.
I arrived about 20 minutes ahead of my family (our party included two adults and three kids — ages 6, 3 & 1) and told the cashier I was waiting for them so we could dine in. After placing and paying for a $80 order, I was told we couldn’t dine in because only certain menu items are allowed for dine-in.
That would’ve been fine if someone had mentioned it before I ordered. The cashier knew we were planning to eat together, so it was frustrating to be told afterward that we’d have to take everything to go.
To make things worse, I’m staying in a hotel and my family drove over an hour to meet me in a central location to see other relatives in Iowa. We were all looking forward to sharing a simple meal together, and instead ended up juggling takeout bags and toddlers.
On a positive note, the lasagna was actually good — I’d rate it a solid 7.5/10. The chicken Alfredo was a bit basic, but the toddlers liked the spaghetti, which made things a little better.
I’m sure the staff is generally friendly and hardworking, but communication matters — especially when it can prevent turning a special family night into a frustrating one. I hope management reviews this policy or, at the very least, makes sure customers are informed before ordering.

I got zio Johnos tonight craved that ravioli sauce. Man their getting ridiculous. I used to always get a tub and a garlic bread boat. Tonight they wanted $45 for 1/2 gal and a bread! So I just got the dinner to go… Opened it up and half full. They also dont include drink and salad in the dinner now and it was $14. Not coming back.

My boyfriend and I just ate here and we ordered Tortellini and Chicken Alfredo. I am not one to complain but this was awful. The Tortellini was cold like refrigerator cold in the center, I asked them to re-heat it and they gave me a new plate instead and it was lukewarm at minimum, ontop of this was very watery (like you can see water) tasteless sauce, salt and pepper and parmesan cheese didn’t help. So disappointing. His chicken Alfredo was warm but chicken was rubbery and appeared to be reheated chicken and the sauce was watery and tasteless as well. This man had served our country and when I say eats anything I mean literally anything. He couldn’t do it. It was an over priced and very very disappointing meal. We said something as we left about why we didn’t finish our meals and we received an I’m sorry, I hope you have a better night. Needless to say we will Not be returning and are very disappointed with the entire experience.

We waited less than 5 minutes until our complete meal was brought out to us. Amazing experience with very kind service. Our server offered to keep our entree warm while we enjoyed our appetizers. The portions were very large and delicious. We were able to enjoy our meal and have plenty to take home for lunch. The staff was very kind and courteous about ensuring we enjoyed the experience. The price for our entrees, delicious garlic bread, and four different appetizers on a platter was so amazing. We will be back soon and will be bringing our friends.

My girlfriend and I should have questioned our choice when we pulled in the parking lot and it was empty. But we decided to give it a try and ordered the chicken alfredo and tortellini. When the food came out, the chicken tasted extremely rubbery like it was recooked in a microwave and the alfredo sauce had no flavor. My girlfriends tortellini was refrigerator cold in the middle with her sauce being watered down. When we said something to the young manager, she attempted to remake the tortellini but only to recieve the same results. Cold in the middle and watered down sauce. This place does not serve fresh food, it felt and tasted like yesterday’s leftovers! Even the so called garlic bread was no better than buttered toast with a sprinkle of garlic powder. So with our full plates of food on the table, we left on our way out we spoke to the young manager. We told her how horrible the food was and how dissatisfied we were with their establishment. We just recieved a reply of, we’re sorry and have a better evening. We will definitely not be returning to this establishment!! DO NOT eat here, it is a complete waste of your money and time!! As well as potentially giving you food poisoning with undercooked food!

We did a carry out order that fed 15 people. Our order was correct, the food was hot and delicious. The person who took our order was knowledgeable and tried to make sure we got the best deal. The manager even offered to help me carry it out. Would recommend ordering this again for a large gathering.

Took me over half an hour to get my garlic bread. Meanwhile I seen multiple people getting garlic bread and people leaving the drive-thru. I don’t know what the people in the drive thru order but I can only assume there was garlic bread. This was of course over lunch time which there should be an abundance of garlic bread ready and prepared. When they did deliver me my garlic bread all I got was a “sorry”. I was hoping to share my experience with the manager who I was told would be coming to my table. I did however see the manager out in the dining room conversing with customers the walk right past me without asking me how is my meal.

I always make it a point to eat at Zio Johno’s when I come home to CR from Las Vegas a few times. I came to this location and was very impressed too. The service was amazing , the restaurant was clean and relaxing and the food as always was hot like I like my food and delicious!
