BLUF: The ultimate Royal Oak “local” for high-energy social gatherings and post-workout recovery.
The Vibe: Authentic, unpretentious, and lively. It’s the consistent choice for our run club meetups because it handles a crowd with ease.
Post-Run Fuel: Solid pub fare and a good draft selection. The atmosphere is perfect for transitioning from “athlete mode” to “social mode.”
Key Features: Plenty of screens for sports fans.
The Verdict: If you want a place where the service is efficient and the community feel is real, O’Tooles is the standard in RO.

I don’t go out that much, so take that into consideration, but this is the most unethical bar I’ve been to.
While we were sitting at our table a man came up and asked us to spin a wheel to get money if we downloaded a gambling app. Maybe this is normal but I’ve never been to a bar where people walk around making advertisements.
Later a woman came up to our table and handed us shots, which I assumed were complimentary, but charged us for them afterwards. Again, never been to a bar that has done this.
The service was really slow, but they still charged me a 20% automatic gratuity (1 Guiness and 1 green tea shot which came out to 22.35), AND left a line for me to add an additional gratuity, which I felt was sneaky.
Overall I just felt like this bar’s tactic is to prey on drunk people..
The DJ who was there was good though he played a lot of EDM

Good selection of drinks, and lots of seating. Music was decent as well.
I was quite thrown off that the tip was already added to the total, and the normal tip line on the receipt is asking for an additional tip. First time I have seen this in the area, so make sure you carefully check your receipt.

The bouncers are extremely rude and unprofessional. Charged me a $20 cover fee and held my id hostage. He refused to give me my property back until I brought him $40 CASH, which I had to locate an atm for. I’m pretty sure this is illegal. Also… I won’t even mention the amount of underage drinking that has gone on here over the years. Overall very unprofessional and unpleasant experiences all around. It’s usually empty and dead inside the main crowd being teenagers… Save your money go somewhere else.

So I came to O’Toole’s to pick up a girl that worked there after her shift at 2 AM, When I did a O’Toole security member attacked me and my vehicle while I was still inside of it when I said something to the manager, Heather, I was told I wasn’t allowed back and he was fired and barred when I talked to the other manager that was actually on shift when this took place, he told me that the man “PJ” would not be working there anymore and he was not allowed back and I was fine to return anytime, since then over the holiday weekend for Halloween. I couldn’t help but notice that he was working the door. Yet to mind you, I never said anything or even approached this guy for him to come after me and he was otooles security with his work attire still on and on otooles property, I even took it as far as reaching out to Robin the owner and haven’t gotten any reply or anything I would not recommend going too otooles at all. It is not a safe environment for you or your property the security there clearly has no respect for human life.

I was in town with friends and wanted one last beer for the night. We walked into this joint and had the great pleasure of interacting with Sofia who was behind the bar. She was amazing. Even stayed open past closing making us laugh.

I peeked in the back and saw who was back there in that kitchen!!!!!!! It made sense. The food was a 10/10. I got fish/chips.
I give the bar 0stars.
The bartender didn’t even look our way as we stood there at the bar for about 2 minutes before I noticed a server walk past and got her attention. That bothered me but I realized she didn’t want to move away from the high tipping white men she was planted in front of. I’m not excusing her behavior at all though.
I was very hungry so I said whatever and kept it pushing. The fish and chips was the best food I had in Michigan for that short period of time that I was there.
Servers were attentive and during the snowstorm, the food alone, made my night out worthwhile!

Service was fine, but they need to knock it off with sending sales people to pressure you into signing up for sports betting. Went in for a couple beers with an old friend and had to deal with aggressive sports betting pitches for like 10 minutes despite trying to politely decline the offer multiple times. When that was done, some dude came out and started criticizing the girl about not getting us to sign up. I feel for the girl because it’s just her job, but I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Take the grift somewhere else; it’s bad for your business.

The drinks were priced decently and the drink menu was extensive which I love having options to choose from. The food was GOOD! The music and service was nice as well. I have no complaints. Will be returning when I’m back in the area.
