Didn’t get a table at Lom Wong’s so we were redirected to this fabulous pocket bar. Best consolation prize ever. This place has a speakeasy feel but with a wide open door. Warm and helpful staff. We were greeted by Austin who helped explain the concept of the bar and guided us through the intriguing cocktail list. With his help, we tried the Haripunchai and the Thai Tea and Dusty’s Thai Tea. So unique and full of unique flavors. Austin knew hus stuff! The vibe was great. Loved all the misters. Really fun stop!

We love Mr. Baan’s! A truly fantastic experience every time. The genuinely warm staff greets you at their little hole in the wall, and while your custom-sized mookata (a Thai table-top grill) is prepared, they’ll guide you to their speakeasy type bar. Once inside, you’ll be able to choose from among the most tasty and unique cocktail menus we’ve seen in Downtown Phoenix in awhile. The mookata experience itself is similarly one of a kind. You’ll be given a huge rack of marinated and seasoned meats, as well as a big basket of veggies, tofu, eggs, bean sprouts, and noodles, to add to your mookata. The mookata itself sits on your table and is an interactive experience (think Korean BBQ) that you get to add food to. It’s awesome, and very fun for the whole family. The meats and other stuff is so fresh and delicious, and there’s a ton of it! Everyone is going home stuffed. All the while, the staff is taking good care of you. This place is awesome and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Go to Mr. Baan’s today!

Wonderful experience. Food was fantastic, drinks fantastic. Our server was attentive and helped us get started with the grill and broth. Pricey, but worth it for a special night.
It’s the only thing like it in town! Kind of a mix of hot pot and kbbq.

I’m an Asian born and raised. Moved to the States when I was 17. I have to write this review for other Asians. The food is ok. The experience is ok. It’s very authentic and good marketing point. However, if you’re an Asian like me and ask me if this is worth it to come to Mr Baan, it’s a big NO for me. I would say go for Lom Wong instead. But you’re bored and have extra cash, iykyk…
Oh. And don’t go there in Summer

We could not have asked for a better experience than we had tonight. Fabulous from start to finish. Everyone here went out of their way to roll out the red carpet and make sure my husband and I had the best experience. Excellent cocktails based on recommendations from the bartenders, exceptional service including a detailed tutorial of the grill from Brad and our waitress, and continued attentive service throughout our meal. Food was SO good and plenty of it. A very unique experience with quality ingredients and great favors. Truly a meal you have to experience to appreciate. The ambiance on the cozy patio was perfect for our date night. We will absolutely be coming back! Thank you all for taking such great care of us tonight!

Wonderful flavors. Excellent sauces. Very unique experience here in the states. Its definitely a social event, so it’s best to bring a group. That said, when we went, it was just two of us, and we had a good experience.

For the price we paid, both the food and service were just average. The only standout feature of this restaurant was the pot itself, which differs from other BBQ and hot pot places I’ve been to. The quality of the food and vegetables didn’t justify the $50+ per person charge; I could have gotten better food for much less at another restaurant.
The bar was decent, with fun drinks, but they were also quite pricey.
The service was questionable. The restaurant felt disorganized, with orders frequently being delivered to the wrong tables. Our server also forgot about us, leading to a wait of an hour instead of the 30 minutes we were initially told.

This original Mookata! Mookata is Thai home style charcoal bbq. Everything is right, taste was amazing like in Thailand. The foods are good amount we couldn’t finish it all. Broth is amazing taste. I saw some comments said meat it’s not quality but for me I understand how the Thai style bbq look like, not like a premium Korean bbq or Yakiniku. The service and cocktails were amazing. I had Lum Yong and Somtum smash cocktail. They were blow my mind.
I took off one star because it’s a little expensive but it’s very good experience and happy to not clean the grill by myself. Will back for sure if we visit phoenix again

Found out about Mr.Baans after dining at Lom Wong and decided to comeback and give it a try. It’s a fun experience and there’s a fair amount of food included (more than the two of us were able to eat). The food was great but what really put it over the top was the service. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Only hiccup was that our table was not ready until about 20-30 minutes after our reserved time, but Brad made sure to make it right which was really appreciated!!
