Simply Soulful was one of the main places on my wishlist of places to visit when I first moved to Seattle so getting to go before moving out of the city was a dream come true. Although, Simply Soulful is Black owned the server/cashier wasn’t but he was kind nonetheless. The soul rolls? Divine 10/10 would recommend. The atmosphere? 10/10. If you live in Seattle I would definitely add Simply Soulful to your list of restaurants to try.

Food was not good at all and based on it being $60 for two people, we expected tastier food. Grits were lumpy, fish tasted refried and overhard, they were out of bread so no toast. Eggs were mushy and wet. Counter service and take your seat type place don’t expect follow up on your meal.

I am from GA. I have been looking for a restaurant in Seattle with the authentic soul food taste I am used to from back home. This is my first time trying Simply Soulful. It won’t be my last! Everything I ordered was simply amazing!

We stopped here for dinner around 8pm and overall it was good. We were planning to dine in but the dining area was closed. I had the catfish with greens and red beans and rice. The greens were good. The red beans and rice was good. The catfish was cooked much harder than I prefer but it was ok. My son had the wings and Mac and cheese which was pretty good. The service was good. The young man at the front counter did good. Overall, it was a good choice. Our meal was about $25 per person which I guess is the norm for this area.

That was a huge let down!
I’ve truly wanted to try this restaurant for years and since it was the last day of Kwanzaa I felt it would be meaningful to take my family to a black owned restaurant. Unfortunately this was not the experience I was hoping for.
We waited for at least 90 minutes to get our food and we didn’t even ask for anything complicated. And once I got my food I received the saddest brisket sandwich I’ve ever seen. On top of that, they got my son’s order wrong.
I’ve had a lot of Soul Food in my life and this was nowhere close. Black businesses in Seattle are struggling, so the last thing I want to do is be a detriment, but they have got to do better.

This restaurant has some amazing soul food,, very tasteful!! As a born and raised Southerner, I am very particular about soul food. I tried out Simply Soulful and let’s just say they hit all the marks on seasoning, flavor, taste and presentation! I had the catfish, Mac and cheese, and collard greens which was exactly as I remember from back home! I also had the banana pudding for dessert and that was an A+ as well. If you are looking for quality soul food this the place to go and highly recommend. I will be eating here again on my next Seattle trip!

We had high expectations. With no one in the restaurant, our order was taken right away at the front counter. We paid $20 each plus $5 for the sweet tea. Waited over an hour, for over deep fried catfish, undercooked eggs and a cold small piece of cornbread. I felt I was robbed in plain daytime.

First visit here. Very nice staff. Plenty of seating inside.. maybe their outside seating was closed. We went for takeout for dinner. I got the catfish with Mac and yams. My wife got the catfish sandwich and fries.. unfortunately they were out of greens .. next time! But what we got was really good. Will make it back eventually to try other menu items. There is a happy hour too which is super cool!
