Short story time, my mother remarried when I was young to a Japanese man. So my (step)grandmother from Osaka, JP consistently cooked for me growing up. I loved her unique and authentic traditional Japanese cuisine, constantly craving her delightful dishes.
Now let me tell you something, if my grandmother saw the way I devoured my meal tonight at the Dragon Inn, she would be devastated. I don’t even like Chinese food, but my entire viewpoint on Asian cuisine may have changed tonight. I haven’t enjoyed a meal like that since who knows when.
My best friend and I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken, Spicy Shredded Beef Szechuan Style, Egg rolls, Egg drop soup, and Crab Rangoons. The egg roll was a big as a coke can, the Rangoons were awesome, and the meals were unbelievable. We combined said 10 words to each other the entire meal. You know that crappy feeling you get after eating greasy Chinese food? Not here, we ate everything brought out, scraped our plates and promised to see the staff again soon.
This was probably the best sit down meal I’ve had in my life and I can’t believe I just typed that out. 50 years of Kansas City excellency, Dragon Inn & the To-Ping Tsui family are a staple.
100/10 Review if I could give it.
Great setting and atmosphere here.
Staff were very friendly, our server very very quick and a bit caught off guard when we didn’t just speak our orders at him, but asked how he was doing; probably used to people not being too chatty.
Loved going here on a date, and my dad’s recommendation from coming here years ago. The food was good. Got General Tso’s chicken and vegetable lo mein.
The food was good, but it was the kind of good you find at a Chinese buffet, which is to say that it seemed to have substituted a lot of nuanced and diverse flavors of traditional Chinese food for the kinda of cooking that just makes everything really tasty, but the same.
The crab rangoons were very good!
All in all, give it a shot. Definitely worth it.
It’s located in a cute little town area that’s great for walking around in.
Very disappointed in them. Mostly tastes like a brown sauce and the tofu is meh. Not great either. You also get half the serving size you get at other places for the same price.
The fried rice tastes like it was cooked on a very dirty wok.
Crab ragoon is decent.
Overall would not recommend. Much better food elsewhere, for cheaper and you get more food for your money.
Update for 6/16/23. My daughter and I ate there last night. As always we’re blown away at the quality of their food. Absolutely impeccable and couldn’t be anymore perfect. Every bite was a roller coaster of taste and all the excellent ingredients. I can’t wait to go back !.
