We have had several lovely meals at Benny’s Coastal Kitchen, and it’s quickly earned a place on our list of Hilton Head favorites. Set right on the water at Shrimpers Row with gorgeous views out over Skull Creek, the setting alone makes it a must-visit destination whether you’re on island vacation or just exploring local hotspots.

From the minute you walk in, the vibe strikes that perfect balance of casual coastal charm and refined culinary flair. Benny’s menu is diverse and exciting — we loved sampling fresh seafood that clearly reflects the flavors of the Lowcountry. The hush puppies with chili honey butter were a standout starter, and the seafood dishes (like the Brazilian-inspired fish stew, the crab cakes & blackened scallops) felt fresh, well-seasoned, and satisfying.

Cocktails are creative and refreshing (perfect for sipping on the patio or up at the rooftop bar). We love the Palmetto Paloma for something different. And the indoor dining space with expansive windows ensures you never lose sight of that waterfront view. If you can, try to catch a sunset from the rooftop — the atmosphere up there is lively and one of the best spots on the island for a drink with friends or a date night toast.

Service throughout our visits has been friendly, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced — we felt welcomed and well taken care of from start to finish. While it can get lively during peak times (especially on the patio or rooftop and during tourist season), that energy just adds to the overall experience rather than distracting from it.

Overall, if you’re looking for fresh seafood, great cocktails, stunning water views, and a vibe that’s relaxed but special, Benny’s is absolutely worth checking out on Hilton Head. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town (which is next month)!

My extended family was visiting for Thanksgiving and we all decided to visit this place as none of us, even us seasoned Hilton Head veteran tourists, had ever been here before! The plan was to have drinks upstairs and proceed downstairs for dinner, which is exactly what we did.

First off, I believe the upstairs part might be considered a separate establishment, as I think the name might be 41 Up. That’s possibly a reference to the island’s latitude or longitude or something, so that’s pretty neat!

You might know by now that I’m hardly an avid drinker, so I had to make my choice carefully, ultimately going with the sweet and tasty Pomegranate Margarita for my sunset drink. 41 Up also has a decently sized food menu to supplement the drinks and the atmosphere is open aired; perfect to sit and watch the sunset as you sip!

Upon returning downstairs for the main event, I ordered the Diavolo Blanco, which was listed as a spicy item. I am a lover of all things spicy, but I got to say, I was disappointed.

I rather enjoyed the dish as a whole but there was seemingly no spice to this whatsoever. What the hey hey, yo?

My aunt tried the well renowned Brazilian Fish Stew and she let me have a piece. This was also a pretty good dish!

Lastly I should mention that the bathrooms were spacious and exquisite and there was also merchandise for sale.

A great experience that I would recommend for a more upscale experience!

Had a lovely dinner tonight with our Server leading the way with his knowledge, professionalism, and kindness! Thank you Warren ! I loved my restaurant week picks of Calamari, Jambalaya, and Spring Roll dessert! My husband equally loved his Fish Stew! Warren also directed and made my delicious drink – thank you Elijah 😉 too- Ha!
Anyway, we saw a beautiful sunset with these perfect meals, and I took some pics! Only suggestion is move the trailer blocking the perfect Sunset View … It was a fun night at a top notch Low Country restaurant!

Very amazing huge restaurant specializing in seafood. Huge rooftop bar and plenty of seating to dine. Large indoor and outdoor seating on main level. There are even games outside for the kids to play.

Food is fresh and very good. Fish stew is their specialty and amazing. Prices very reasonable. My big question here is even though they have a seafood tower, why I couldn’t order shrimp cocktail. Also, why no bread service, free or for a fee? The sauces are so good must have bread.

Our service started out well and ordered a bottle of Silver Oak which was priced below retail. However our server got a couple large groups and forgot about us. This would have been a non issue if there were managers walking around. I didn’t see a single one upstairs or on the main level.

Overall, great environment to dine and relax. Next time I will speak to the MOD before being seated.

Absolutely one of our favorite restaurants! Beautiful inside and out. Fantastic food and service. Sarah took great care of us. The oyster bisque (pictured) is our favorite. We also had oysters and a flourless chocolate cake that was incredible. I highly recommend.

We always have incredible meals at Benny’s. This was our first experience being able to dine outside and I don’t think we’ll ever do indoors again. What a great time and the kindnest servers. I can’t say enough good things about the food, The Filet, Swordfish, Stew, were all perfect. The first time we’ve tried the Carpaccio, and now I’ll be getting it everytime we go! Don’t miss out on Benny’s when you’re on the island and definitely don’t skip dessert!

We had never tried this restaurant and were surprised with the food. We started off with a couple of drinks and the shrimp appetizer which was very fresh and had a delicious sauce. My husband got the salmon dish, and said he liked the flavor but wished there was more substance to the dish and was still hungry when done. I however was very full after my dish of oyster rockafeller gnocchi, which had a delectable sauce. We finished our dinner with the key lime cheesecake, which was very cute and tasty. Our service was amazing and the view was very pretty.

Our first trip to Benny’s with many more to follow. So many enticing items on the menu, but we eventually narrowed it down to 1/2 dozen oysters (grilled with a very unique flavor), Brazilian fish stew, and Short Rib Gnocchi. Our entrees were both in our top ten dinners of our life. Service and ambience were top notch. We had great patio seating, watching the sunset and boats going by, and listening a fabulous guitar player/singer.

Bunny’s coastal kitchen! Pay attention to what’s going on in your restaurant! Coming out of the restroom, the waitress poured a glass of wine and two thermos-teapots of coffee onto the iron where the computer is around 1:00 PM. One of the waitresses, or perhaps the manager, took a sip from the glass and tasted the wine. The waitress brought the drinks and wiped the glass clean of her huge lip! It looked like nonsense! But it’s true. February 23, 2026, look at the camera!

A small cockroach was running around in the restroom, so they’re in the kitchen too?!

Left a lot to be desired!
Seafood basket: under-salted fish (bland)
Shrimp were salted
Squid was like sole from a shoes!

Crab pie Napoleon: a fancy name, but nothing like Napoleon.
Two tomato slices in a pie, so not much of a Napoleon!
The tip is already included in the bill, but they ask for it again at the end when you pay!

Went up stairs to the roof top “41 and up”
Great views nice relaxing atmosphere drink a a bit pricey. Continued on to the lower level for dinner. If you would like to sit outside make sure you request it they don’t ask. Food was great as was the service. One note if you order a dish that contains a broth you need to request a spoon. One should have come with the dish. Nope. Meal were reasonable priced
With a nice kids menu.
