Well, you will be surprised of this little Colombian inspired experience. Our first visit here. Not a lot of space inside but there is more outside seating. Good ambiance with 70’s era music on low! Their decor is so interesting it seems nostalgic of the owners travels. Even the restroom was interesting. The waitress ladies were so sweet and friendly. Our food timely, and not too spicy. I like spicy sometimes and was told it can be adjusted upon request. The empanada was very good, not enough serving though for the price. Two would have been better for their size. My bowl and the nachos both were very good, although their portions were not enough for their prices. I was surprised and not impressed to be served on paper plates and bowls(which limited your portion) with a specialty cuisine? Not for me! However, If you don’t mind paper plates dining? We did not order dessert. I asked about Hector and was hoping to meet him after all I’d read about him last year online. But he was not there. It seems to be a local “go to” as there seemed to be regulars coming in. I 4-starred only because of the portions and the paper plates. Interesting eatery in Atalla, Alabama.

We like to travel and check out the unique dive restaurants and this one didn’t disappoint if you like Cuban food. They get busy fast with limited seating inside, but do offer outdoor seating as well. Cuban Cuban Cuban sandwich is a must. Lots of games on the curio cabinet to sit tight & stay a while if you like. Laid back cool dive place off the beaten path and the Locals seemed to enjoy it as well. Great sign in the ladies room too. Summed up me and my hubby so I took a picture. Thank you!

Hector’s Kitchen is an unsuspecting little gem. Me and some buddies were in the Attalla area around lunch time and was looking for a lunch spot. We wanted something local, not just something we could get anywhere. Hector’s Kitchen was showing on Google Maps to be very close to where we were and was rated highly. We weren’t sure because none of us could remember if we’d ever tried Cuban food. We decided to give it a shot. There’s nothing fancy about the exterior or interior but we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who embodied the colorful decor found inside. We told her we’d never been there before so she recommended several dishes to try. The prices were a little higher than we anticipated but one of the recommendations was their Cuban sandwich which was on the lower range of priced dishes so we all three went for that option and all opted for queso with the chips that came with the sandwich over the salsa. The food came out pretty quickly and looked fantastic. Well, it tasted even better than it looked! Each component of the sandwich was perfect from the bread to the meat and was dressed just right with the other toppings. We all said we could have made a meal out of just the bread, it was great! The tortilla chips were hot and fresh and were a great vehicle to deliver the tasty queso! We were very pleased with the entire experience. If I ever find myself near this spot around meal time I will definitely be back! Thanks Hectors for a great lunch.
