I love having octopus but rarely get it because not many places that offer it, can cook it properly. This place did. It was tender and delicious – the grilled octopus. The flavor was awesome and I loved that for an appetizer, it came with 2 tentacles , when usually it’s just one. So well worth the $. We also got the “spinach pies” and the tzatziki sauce was so creamy and fresh – took me right back to my trip to Greece. I got the elderflower power cocktail which is basically a Hugo spritz and it was delicious. Would definitely come back here.

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Taverna on the Bay, and the experience was absolutely delightful. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere transported us to the Mediterranean coast. I started with a non-alcoholic blackberry sangria, a refreshing delight filled with fruity notes that won me over from the first sip. My friends opted for a classic cosmo and a dirty martini, both expertly crafted and elegantly presented. We ordered the Greek plate, a generous showcase of authentic flavors: perfectly seasoned dolmas, creamy and flavorful hummus, vibrant tzatziki, and feta that felt like it was imported directly from Greece. The saganaki, undoubtedly one of the highlights, arrived sizzling at our table, with a golden, crispy exterior protecting a soft, melted interior. A squeeze of fresh lemon enhanced its flavor, making each bite divine—an absolute must-try! We also had the grilled octopus, perfectly cooked, tender, and with the perfect smoky touch, showcasing the chefs’ skill in bringing sea flavors straight to your palate. Throughout our visit, the service was impeccable; our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and guided us through the menu with personalized suggestions. In summary, Taverna on the Bay is a hidden gem that transports you to the Mediterranean with every bite, offering delicious drinks and exquisite, authentic cuisine. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a Mediterranean escape in the city, and I look forward to returning soon to explore more of their menu!

First time trying this place and it was excellent. We went for $1 Oyster night. We had a dozen oysters, zucchini chips, bruschetta and linguine with clams. Everything was delicious and the portions are big. We sat in the back with a view of the Intracoastal and it was a beautiful evening.
There was only 1 negative. We paid with a Visa gift card and our server automatically added a 20% tip and didn’t tell us. We left a cash tip not knowing that the server had already deducted a tip from the gift card. If they are going to do that, we should have been told. Not a good business practice. My opinion only.
Still highly recommend for a great date night. Just check with server when paying with a card.

I am writing to express my disappointment with a recent dining experience at your establishment.
Unfortunately, this was the worst meal we have ever had. The tomahawk steak was tough and significantly overcooked, and the chicken was also overcooked and had a gritty texture. Given the quality of the food, the total cost of $175 (including drinks) was extremely disappointing and did not reflect the experience we expected.
We chose your restaurant expecting a high-quality meal, especially at this price point, and regret to say that expectation was not met. I felt it was important to bring this to your attention and hope you will take this feedback seriously.
I would appreciate hearing how you intend to address this matter.

The patio is facing the parking lot. The drinks okay. The dice game fun. The plating of our app was laughable. We left after we were served this. Will not return. (Btw they also do not have the NFL ticket we were told so if going for the wings deal don’t expect to watch all games. )

I never write negative reviews even if I have a terrible experience .. it’s just how I like to do it .. I either write a five star (or if fairly a 4) or refrain from writing but this is my first 3 star.
For how I feel I was treated and lied to, it should be one star… but the view was impeccable and I did enjoy my fish.
It’s not about the NON-disclosed or told about extra charges or up-charges you call them, it’s about being told about the “sides” of the fish dish so casually as “broccoli” being one option and the cook style, between Greek/blackened/grilled/broiled etc and all being equal as your choice with the dish. I picked broccoli as my side and Greek style for the cook (instead of blackened which is what I usually get).
It’s NOT about the $2 and $4 dollars extra on the bill but it was surprising and I didn’t switch sides or been told it’s more for these two options. Again, it’s not about a small extra 6 dollars! But how I was not told about it, I felt lied to and manipulated. Then to make it worse, when I asked very kindly, “the broccoli is extra??” She said oh yeah they changed that but didn’t put on the menu .. “I’ll take it off” she said then I get the bill the same with the extra $6. I’d pay an extra $50 if I have to or want to .. but not this style or this way. This ticked me off so badly!!!
No respect. I always give 20-30% tip but couldn’t give beyond 10 for the first time in my life.
