Reviews
We enjoyed the sushi platters, food quality and the service were good. Bao buns were yum.
Have previously been for breakfast which was also very nice but not sure if they still do breakfast.
If you want sushi with friends in Windsor/slough/maidenhead area – would recommend trying Intoku
I was welcomed nicely at the door and seated promptly. Food is well presented and delicious. I highly recommend.
The restaurant is cozy, charming and beautifully decorated with cherry blossoms. They also had really nice tunes playing in the background.
We bought drinks but also asked for tap water as we had spent a while outside exploring Windsor and were parched. Besides the food taking quite a while to come, what was worse was that until the end of the meal, we had not received any tap water despite asking three more times. Not too sure if this was just us as we saw some (but not all) other tables receiving tap water, but it was striking that while all tables came with empty glasses for tap water, some of the glasses of other tables remained empty as well. By the time we left the restaurant we had not had tap water.
When it came to getting the bill and paying, we asked another separate three times and waited for so long that we nearly missed our train. In the end, we had to get up from the table and went straight to the cash desk to settle the bill. It was a slightly busy evening with the restaurant half full, but it was frustrating that at some times the staff were just standing around or tidying things, and it seemed like they fully forgot our request to get the bill and pay despite our reminders.
This is in spite of the waiters and staff being quite friendly and nice in general, and the ambience of the restaurant, as well as the selection of food was good. I particularly enjoyed their sushi as it was presented in a cute style, tasty and utilised unique ingredients. We also tried their recommended “bokchoy” ramen, it was not really Japanese ramen but rather a Southeast Asian inspired take on a noodle dish. We were much more disappointed by the twist than pleasantly surprised. Buckwheat noodles were used instead of ramem noodles and they were soggy and overcooked; the beef broth which was apparently boiled for 48 hours lacked flavour; the marinated onsen egg which usually comes with ramen was a plain hard boiled half egg.
Overall the food was not great with the exception of the sushi and it was disappointing that the service didn’t match the beautiful setting of the restaurant. We paid 70+ pounds for two people and were unsatisfied with the overall experience, though Intoku might still be worth a try if you want exposure to Asian food.
Other than that, Thank you to Amilia for a great service!
The atmosphere was relaxed and stylish, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. Service was quick without feeling rushed, which made the whole experience even better.
Definitely a place I’d come back to and recommend to anyone wanting a great meal in Windsor.
