We finally made it to the Cozy Inn! The building and decor are incredible and gives you a intimate and “cozy” experience.
The owners/staff were wonderful and attentive.
We were slightly disappointed at the all around flavor of the items we ordered since we ordered items that were listed as spicey and there was no heat to them.
Hands down the best egg rolls I have ever experienced. One of a kind.
The portions of food are also hearty and we both took enough home for a second meal.
Try the mustard sauce. Excellent.

Go for the nostalgia! If you can climb the stairs you’ll have a nice nostalgic experience. This place could have been a set for the Happy Days TV show depicting the 1950s.
The food is okay but also dated. Better than any canned or frozen LaCoy but that isn’t much of an endorsement. Most entrees are heavily sauced and taste very similar. I liked the kung po chicken the best. I’m not a fan of the egg roll the filling was mushy, I like a little crunch to the cabbage.
We had to take out, I wouldn’t order takeout again but I would go to dine in for the atmosphere.

Ok. Here’s the thing. We LOVE THIS PLACE for egg rolls and wonton soup. Sometimes the wonton soup is THE BEST EVER sometimes the meat in the dumplings is way too firm and not super enjoyable. But when it’s good—IT’S GOOD. I’m happy to have a so-so bowl a few times a year, because that happens when things are homemade, etc.

This is a truly old school place. I love that about them, but it also means my tastes have changed with the times and I find most of the stuff here average at best. So much taste the same, egg foo young something I tend to love, I hate theirs. Chowmein Cantonese style is so hard to come by in Wisconsin, unfortunately theirs kind of sucks. This is one of my favorite dishes that I grew up eating in Chicago. Theirs is just too dark, too salty, too wrong for me.

But the egg rolls. It’s the egg rolls that will keep me coming back here weekly, the soup, the cozy vibe, the service… the straight up nostalgia.

The food is good if you’re my parents… in their 70s. It’s super old school Americanized Chinese food for the most part that hasn’t changed. I think my generation just has higher expectations for authenticity now that we’ve had such access to various Asian cuisines. This just missed the mark for a lot of the young folks I take here, but it will certainly impress your parents… and if you grew up on peanut butter laced egg rolls in Chicago and can’t find them— this is where you want to go. You’ll probably even shed a tear like I did the first time I got my mouth around that familiar flavor after a decade of missing it.

I so much enjoyed the decor. The lighting, half circle high booths, old school coat racks. Gracious server and service. The food was served in unique silver like dishes with a lid and large spoons. I ordered the Shrimp Kew. So fresh and crisp. We didn’t feel rushed so they could turn the table either. Music was perfect too. Will return. My friend ordered the pork fried rice and it seemed kind of salty and not so fresh. Next time I will order the egg rolls. Heard they are good.

The atmosphere here is great! You can’t go wrong trying their excellent egg rolls. My friend doesn’t even like egg rolls and gets them here every time. I had the general chicken since I wanted some spice on this visit. Very friendly staff, made sure we always had what we needed.

Can’t comment as to the atmosphere, got the food for take out.
New to the area and been looking for a GOOD Chinese food place.
After having tried ALL the others in town, we learned of this one.
Price is a bit higher than the rest, but the food…. As someone who grew up near Chinatown in Chicago, THIS is the place you want to go to in Janesville. Trust me, wasted a bunch of cash at the others and this is, while obviously not the same as there, this is closest.
Too that I mean this, ALL the others had the “panda” frozen food taste, many seem to even get their eggrolls from the same distributor and only have duck sauce packets for them.
Having grown up with fresh made Chinese food, THIS has that “made in store taste” I expect in everything we got.
A bit pricy, but when I want Chinese food, THIS will be my place.
So save yourself some time, if you too are new to the area…. Money well spent.

Pulled up to Cozy Inn in JVL w/ my daughter & yo this place is straight ✨HISTORY✨ been holdin it down for a whole century ️ like legit 100 yrs of vibes . Soon as u step in it’s got that OG Chinese restaurant decor ️, neon nostalgia vibes (yes there’s a phone booth for the selfie sesh ) and a whole memory book where ppl wrote down their feels from decades back .

Service? Straight immaculate staff was hella friendly, treated us like fam ‍ ‍ . Atmosphere = cozy core + throwback aesthetic ️. Food? bruh don’t even get me started every single bite was bussin bussin had me & my kid lookin at each other like “yo this slaps harder than it should” .

They ain’t win Janesville Gazette’s “Best Asian Restaurant” like a bazillion times for no reason it’s OBVIOUS once u sit down & grub . Honestly, it’s the kinda spot that makes you think, “dang, if I had brought my ex here sooner maybe she wouldn’t be my ex” (my bad, Cozy Inn, that one’s on me).

Everything about this spot is a W ✅✅✅. If u in JVL & u don’t hit Cozy Inn, ur actually selling urself short frfr .

Located upstairs, be prepared for the steep steps and entryway if you have trouble with stairs. The space is very cozy as the name states, it’s a cute little traditional Chinese restaurant which I loved! Our service was great and they are very friendly; however the food was just okay and inconsistent for the price. The portions felt small and I wasn’t a huge fan of the egg roll, it tasted off but the crab rangoon and wonton soup were really good!

Decided to try this place for the first time. And holy cow. It’s not good at all. Ordered two things of orange chicken and it was not good at all, it was just sweet. No kinda spice or flavor. And the chicken is such poor quality I could not tell between the breading and chicken. Honestly the best thing about it was the plain rice.
