First ever time sitting down for an Indian and oh my goodness. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Portions we the perfect size in my opinion and the flavours of the curries were exquisite. We were a large group and the manager accommodated us in our own part of the restaurant, nothing was too much trouble. They even brought round the olympic torch for us to all hold and take a picture with. Very pleasant service and excellent food, will definitely be returning!

We had a siblings and partners get together here last night. We arrived without booking (thinking we wouldn’t need to on a Wednesday night). Party of 9, we were given a table straight away but were lucky as the back half of the restaurant was fully booked for students. The restaurant was almost full by the time we started eating. Despite how busy they were our service was really quick, drinks and poppadoms were served in good time.
Our main meals also came in good time.
The food itself was excellent, not one of us failed to enjoy our meal. I think we all had different dishes as well.
Staff were really great, efficient, friendly couldn’t ask for more really.
The Akash is a very familiar establishment to Portsmouth folk and it’s good to see that if anything the restaurant has just got better. If you’ve never been give it a go.

What a great find. I love Indian food and The Akash is hard to beat. Well run Family business now in the hands of the next generation, really good service. Too many good choices and the Balti is great. We had a Vegetarian option, Mild Curry and a hotter Balti. A real treat. Looking forward for an excuse to return soon.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Akash in Portsmouth, and I can honestly say it was one of the best Indian meals I’ve ever had.
From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting – perfect for both a casual night out or a special occasion.
Now, let’s talk about the food – absolutely incredible. Every dish we ordered was bursting with authentic flavours and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The balance of spices was perfect – rich and aromatic without being overpowering. The curries were beautifully cooked, the naan was fresh and fluffy, and the rice was light and fragrant. You can really tell this kitchen takes pride in every plate they send out.

Had a delivery & the guy wouldn’t bring it up one flight of stairs. Odd, but asked what I ordered, handed it to me and just went. Rude. Then the curry was cold, tasteless & generally not worth half the money. Strange because when you eat in, it’s much better. But this has put me off now.

Underwhelming Im afraid. I realise that as a large group its not easy. However we booked well in advance arrived on time and nearly 1.5hrs to serve the mains after the starters. Seems like the management wanted to make extra profit from alcohol sale. When the mains were served the rice was cold as were the naans so had to be sent back. Considering it was a set menu to make it easier it was disappointing unfortunately
