Another trip out of Rockford, IL to check this place out after seeing a post and pics of a pork tenderloin sandwich, HUGE that actually looked great! So here the little sister and I go, oh, and the Frenchy and Olde Bulldogs lol. So, we arrive a bit after 7, packed, parked, took couple photos, Nikki went in and ordered, checked it out, couple pics, went back in after the food. I will say WOW, Pork Tenderloin, huge, juicy, not over done, the batter OMG, made the entire pork tenderloin. The tenderloin itself was fabulous, tender, good thickness, GREAT batter to tenderloin balance and wala, the great pork tenderloin. 9 out of 10, I have NOT rated higher yet just to make that rating clear. Now, on to the French fries, 10 out of 10, does just not get much better than these, perfect light crunch, potatoes DONE, not undercooked!!! Lastly, the coleslaw
Hmmmmmm, can’t get a handle on it but damn it is unique, delicious, and could almost be considered the ultimate healthy desert as well. A slight bite but sweetness overtakes but this two part backend palette taste is just hmmmmm, all together so flipping awesome 10 out of 10 on this coleslaw and lord do not change it. We will return.

Went for dinner last night for my Sister’s Birthday, the food was phenomenal!! We were a party of 8 so we had reservations not a single one of us had a bad meal or thought it would be better if…..
The pork tenderloin was , jumbo shrimp, pork chop, cod, twice baked potatoes,homemade mashed potatoes, as well as the homemade Ranch were AMAZING!!! Definitely recommend and will be returning. Service was excellent also hoping our server forgave our confusion with the tips she well deserved.

Great place for a meal while sitting by the Rock River. Recently we watched eagles during our dinner.
Food is great and the menu has plants of choices. Soup is always great and the salad bar is wonderful.

I ordered the Breaded Pork Tenderloin, it is hand pounded with a nice beer batter topping and lightly seasoned with basic salt and pepper, it is big enough for 2 sandwiches for sure. My wife had a stock cheese burger with all the toppings, it was done to her liking. We also had the combo plate appetizer with mushrooms and cheese sticks both were good served with marinara sauce and ranch dressing. The portions were comparable to the price. The only negative thing was our server had a long night and it was showing.

Went to the bar to wait for a table …got our first drinks then proceeded to watch the bartender hike her foot up on the cooler showing a customer her bunion’s touching her feet and shoes …in the meantime I was ready for another drink …one of the waitresses stepped up beside me and I told her what we just saw, and the bartender did not wash her hands. She came over to ask me if I wanted another drink, and I told her that she needed to wash her hands because we just watched her touch her feet and her shoes. Response was “oh I didn’t even think anything about it” and got hand sanitizer, not soap and water. The waitress must’ve went and told somebody and the bartender proceeded to tell me that if I had a problem with her, I needed to just speak with her, not tell her staff and talk shit about her. Needless to say when we went to our table for dinner, we didn’t order any more drinks from her. We ordered deep fried pork chops, meatloaf, special, and deep-fried cod dinner. Everything was very good and our waitress Savana was great !

This place is very unassuming. It doesn’t look like much and is located in a neighborhood on the Rock River. The view is amazing and the food is really, really good! We had the pork tenderloin and it was one of the best we’ve had. Definitely homemade with a nice breading. Worth the trip!

The outside of the building is under construction, and when you walk inside there’s immediately a few seedy slot machines to your left. The staff might be distracted. But don’t let any of it deter you. The food was delicious, my dad and I split a tenderloin and we got the mushroom appetizer. It was the biggest and tastiest bar food I’ve gotten in years. I’m rating Rivers edge a 5 even with all it’s flaws because it more than makes up for it with the food! We almost turned around and left and I’m SO glad we didn’t.

The experience got off to a rough start. We were given a hard time by the hostess for not having a reservation, which immediately set the tone. That said, our waitress was good and did her job well.
The seating is packed in extremely tight. While eating our very average, overpriced food, I was bumped hard enough by someone passing by that I dropped my meal. What made this more frustrating is that there were open tables when we arrived and still open tables when we left.
Overall, the food did not live up to the price, and the atmosphere felt more stressful than enjoyable. Lesson learned: make a reservation or be prepared to feel punished for not having one.

One of our favorite places to go and definitely the best place in Dixon. Worth visiting just for the wonderful food they serve. You really get your money’s worth there. Great views of the river. Plenty of seating and there’s even a cozy old fashioned bar inside that you’ll always be able to get a seat at. You’ll go back again after visiting. Just like we do 🙂
