Reviews
Most of us had the buffet. It was really good. Fried fish, fried shrimp, shrimp étouffée, seafood gumbo, chicken gumbo, etc. All the food was really really good!
I ordered the Cajun pasta, my coworkers the ribeye Poboy. Both phenomenal! Both filling with good portions. The pasta even came with veg which is not typical. The seasonings vary with the meal, which means they were actually taylored to the order and not one size fits all. A surprise star was the fries ( more like chips) that tastes like fried catfish ( in the best way).
We were seated before rush, but the waitress and bar tender were top notch on attentiveness and speed.
This place needs more buzz in my opinion. When speaking with the waitress, she mentioned that they’ve been working to improve reviews by listening to customers and frankly it seems to be working.
When I come back into town I am coming back to Charlie’s. Please do the same.

– NOLA BBQ Shrimp $29.00 — These were nice sized shrimp with a good texture but basically flavorless and were sitting in a bland oil. There’s no reason the shrimp should have been $29.00

– Fried Shrimp PoBoy $17.00 — Edible and okay.
I didn’t care for the way the shrimp were battered but that’s a personal preference. Shrimp reminded me of cheap buffet shrimp but no flavor.

– 2 orders of Bread Pudding $9.00 each — It looked really good and had lots of icing on it and I thought it was going to be amazing. We threw these into the garbage. I can’t really explain the texture of the icing but it was almost a foamy frothy texture that I couldn’t stomach and had zero flavor. The bread pudding itself I just can’t explain it. I basically like all bread pudding and anything, but both orders went into the garbage. $20.00.

I understand restaurants have growing pains and they just opened, but did anyone taste any of these menu items before hand?
$82.00 before tax
This is a huge disappointment. We don’t eat out very much and we thought we’d give it a try because the old Cajun Charlie’s was good. We will not be revisiting and I think customers should be refunded for the food that wasn’t edible.
And the new trend towards greediness has them charging $2 each for glasses of tap water. REALLY?!?! TAP WATER???? One Positive was the waiter was very attentive and helpful.
