This is a must “get off I35 and drive to place”!
It is a quaint little house that holds eating space in one room with 3 bars to sit at to dine. As a patron sitting near stated, “It’s like eating in an airplane, but so worth it!” I agree wholeheartedly! The staff is super nice and the service is great!
I had the Dolly Parton and it did not disappoint. The decor just adds to the ambience. The servers had great pride for the place and cooks in the kitchen. Please do yourself a favor and get off of I35 in Waxahachie and dine here.

The place was a cute little hole in the wall
Breakfast stops right at 10:45! We ended up getting lunch, which was very tasty.. Service was a bit slow once we got the food. Overall, nice spot and good prices.

Food was delicious. Coffee was hot. The finning is a bit tight and quite small. Very homey. Portions are not the greatest, menu prices reflect it. We enjoy chicken fried steak and breakfast steak.

I came across this delightful cafe while traveling the backroads between Dallas and Waco. It is a small place and I almost didn’t stop but I am so glad I did. Walking through the entrance I was transported back to the late seventies, felt like I had stepped into 1978 and it was glorious! The place is small with just a few tables, so I bellied up to the bar and ordered a nice large iced tea. The menu itself looked like it was typed on a typewriter and if it was not for the modern prices, I would have sworn it was actually a menu from 1978. The place was filled with several regulars that you just knew came there almost every day. Since I was in that seventies state of mind, I ordered the Grilled Chopped Steak ( aka Salisbury Steak ) it was so good, I gobbled that sucker right up. I was actually kind of sad to leave the place. If I lived in Waxahachie, I could easily see myself trying to eat here at least once a week… go give it a try!

We were a little late getting started from Dallas to Round Rock and neither had eaten yet. As I looked at Google maps the restaurant prospects were not promising until I spotted Country Café only about 1 mile off 35E at Exit 399A in Waxahachie, TX. Everything looked exactly like what we were looking for. We got their Cowboy Special which is served M-F 6:30 – 10:45 for $9.25. The 2 eggs and bacon were cooked exactly the way we asked; the coffee was excellent; and the service (by Sammi) was perfect. We left the place promising ourselves that we would be back the next time we were in the area (maybe to attend the Scarborough Faire which is only 7 minutes away?).

Everything was what it should be. Tiny restaurant, HUGE flavor, friendly service and good prices. The burger, bacon and mushrooms were perfectly cooked and the fry seasoning delivered a refreshing take on a perfectly cooked fry. If I could offer any critique it would be to remove a little salt from the fry seasoning but that’s a minor thing. 5 stars all around. This is what I came to Texas for.

Place was ok. I got pecan crusted fried chicken and my wife got fish and chips basically. Some of the food was delicious and some wasn’t. Fish was delicious but they didn’t have malt vinegar. Mashed potatoes were out of a box. Coleslaw was delicious. Place was too hot inside and the tables are super close.

Consistently the best breakfast in town. Food is always cooked to order and the daily breakfast special is under 5 bucks before tax. Great service. Love this place.
