I’ve visited the Blue Oyster a couple of times now, and it’s truly a gem in Bemidji, Minnesota. The food is fantastic—especially their curry dish, which is rich and full of flavor, and the garlic bread is just perfect. They also have a really impressive cocktail list with a variety of colorful and delicious drinks. It’s a perfect spot for a date night. The staff is friendly, and you can find everything from a great curry to a good burger on the menu. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!

Good food, easy downtown location. The appetizers we ordered were delicious – Chicken Parmesan soup, Caesar salad, Moo Ping. The salmon was tasty, but a little overcooked. Service was friendly, yet slow. I’m not sure if they’re understaffed, but it definitely took some waiting to take orders & get us food. Would try again.

We loved the bright and sunny space at lunchtime. The salmon and tequila lime pasta were both fantastic. Service was good and fast. This is a new favorite for us!

Updated review. They have sun shades! The food was delicious, again. The water tastes fresh. Friendly wait staff and it was great to see the restaurant full!
A great experience overall. The three entrees we had were all delicious: Georgia peach pasta, Khaoso, and spicy basil pork. We sat in a booth near a window and the atmosphere in that area was a little outdated, but a nice view. The reason we were placed there was because the sun was too bright in the main dining area…sun shades would help. Service was good. The tap water had a chemical taste. I’ll definitely return to try more.

I love the atmosphere and the view of downtown from the second level. We really enjoyed the mushroom appetizer! The food we’ve ordered has been warm and not always flavorful. I do enjoy the unique dishes and the chance to try something new.

We came on valentines day, no reservations because it was borderline empty. 7pm. It took 4 people walking by us and not seating us or saying anything. Finally got seats at the bar, took 9 minutes to get someone to get us a drink. I got a Miller lite on tap, something i get regularly, and it tasted off. About 5 minutes later i had an allergic reaction. Our friend had yet to get his drink. Every employee kept complaining about the rush, there were dirty glasses across half the bar…. One of their B-day special drinks they didnt have ingredients on hand for. Someone was seated at the bar and got a menu and drink right away. We left after the sour beer to be able to get food elsewhere. Only to see some other friends we saw waiting to be seated there come into the next place saying they waited 40 minutes to be served. We hope to give it another shot cause the food looks amazing.

Tried 3 meals there as of this post (the pics and a really good spicy popper burger). I personally thought the food was comparable to the other top places in Bemidji. Service was good… the front door wasn’t obvious, and it is upstairs, but the views and lighting while I was there created a nice atmosphere.

I was told this was the place to go to especially for the amazing service and atmosphere but on a late evening on a week day it was not what I was expecting. It was pretty slow, which I kind of expected, so I thought maybe it would be faster service. But the two staff members did not greet us until 10 mins after we sat at the bar. Then it took a while until we were able to get a menu and then even to order food and drinks. They kinda assumed that we knew what we were going to order. I was pretty disappointed and I dont know if I would go again especially because I was so excited to go. The food was pretty alright.

Tender and generous chunks of beef with potatoes and carrots in flavorful hearty curry. Mild (not medium or hot.) Served with white rice and toasted garlic bread. Quite filling. Beef had some fat which indicated good cut for this application (I just cut off what I didn’t want to chew. Am glad to know it was cooked with this intact, though.)
Atmosphere modern with eclectic music background, but not overly loud for a bar (thank gawd.)
Just opened a couple weeks before my visit, so in desperate need of signage. Fun views of downtown Bemidji from 2nd floor. I wish them much success! I will be back, fo’ sure.
