I couldn’t be more mistaken. I have been endlessly delighted by the quality of the fish, the variety of fantastic foods, and the warm kind atmosphere.
I originally came for the Toro which is something of a challenge to find good examples of even along the coasts. The Toro here is fantastic and generously prepared.
I have been a regular at Ahi since moving to the area and trying about half a dozen or so different sushi restaurants in Omaha and Ahi is hands down the winner.
They also have a wonderful variety of non seafood items. I’d personally recommend trying the Osumashi soup and the red curry. They are truly marvelous. The peach oolong tea is lovely and the lychee jelly is a real treat. Oh damn and those crab rangoons.
The owner is kind and thoughtful. Prices are very reasonable. The food is fantastic and the service is great. I am hard pressed to come up with any complaints for Ahi. Do yourself a favor and try it.
You might become a regular and see me there haha
My wife and I have been coming here for years now and have brought many friends here as well. Their food never disappoints. Super fresh fish flown in multiple times per week and even all of the “extra” type items like tempura is fantastic. The service is always great too. This is one of those places where the staff knows the menu items well and if you ask for recommendations, they will have a few delicious options for you. Some menu highlights are the salmon lover roll and the wu kong roll. Definitely do not miss their sushi/sashimi offerings – the chef special salmon belly is amazing. All the pieces of fish are super high quality and thick cut. Definitely a lot of value for the money spent.
Blue, Yoshitomo, Hiro…take notes!
My favorite are the sashimi roll that has no rice, fried rice with house made chili oil, and milk boba tea. My husband gets update on weekly specials such as oysters and sea urchin when it’s available.
We often order sushi party trays for house gatherings too.
Shout out to Nancy!
Now if you read that headline and thought hey Yoshi Tomo or other locations are better…. I am here to tell you that Ahi is the hidden gem of Omaha’s sushi restaurants.
My husband and I always go to a sushi restaurant when we travel, places like Nobu in CA and many of the hidden ones on the east coast. We compare the fresh fish off the coasts to this…Ahi was impressive.
About a year ago my husband stumbled upon this restaurant for a quick lunch spot and he sat at the sushi bar. The Sushi chefs struck up a conversation with him and told him about each piece of fish and dish. They fly in their fish weekly if not multiple times a week.
My husband had such a good time and good food that he brought me for dinner just two nights later. We had an incredible dinner and the food was fantastic!! The server we work with is also fantastic, gives us a heads up on what was just flown in for fish and any specials on the menu.
We bring any guest who comes into town and they always love it!
Sorry Ahi, we won’t be back. I love Asian food, but I don’t care for poor service.
We love their atmosphere with the warm wood and windows, but we’ve also had great luck getting their food to-go. That said, it’s worth dining in because of their super friendly, helpful staff!
