Fantastic New Italian Spot With Something for Everyone
We visited this new Italian restaurant last night and were so impressed. The drinks were excellent, the menu was creative and well thought out, and everything we tried was delicious. One thing that really stood out was how accommodating they are—if you have dietary restrictions, this is a great place to go. They offer gluten‑free and vegan options without sacrificing flavor or quality.
The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was great, and the whole experience felt like a fresh addition to the area. We would highly recommend it.

From the moment you walk in, this Italian restaurant feels warm, inviting, and welcoming, like being welcomed into someone’s home. The appetizers were outstanding: the motzarella sticks are large and amazing! The artichoke appetizer was full of flavor, the rice balls were absolutely fantastic (crispy on the outside and perfectly seasoned inside), everything uniquely garnished and the eggplant was truly amazing.
The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, which made the experience even better. Everything from the food to the service was top-notch. We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great Italian food in a cozy atmosphere.

We had dinner here and had a good time. They do not take reservations so it’s a first come first serve place. We were able to get a table right away. It’s not a really big place but there’s quite a bit of seating. There’s also a bar that seats around 10 people. The menu has a good selection of food options. We both enjoyed our meals. They have a full bar so you can get an alcoholic beverage, beer and wine besides soft drinks. It’s a nice friendly atmosphere It’s easy to get to since it’s located on a main road. There’s quite a bit of parking available on site. (The building they are in also has a martial arts school so depending on when you get there the martial arts school uses some of the parking spaces.). We’ll definitely be back.

We ordered takeout-pizza and pasta ala vodka with grilled chicken. Food was ready as promised and pickup was very easy at the hostess stand. Pizza was delicious-definitely our favorite locally. The pasta ala vodka with grilled chicken was very good-we especially loved the seasoning on the chicken. We are looking forward to ordering again and trying some other menu items.

I was so excited to try this place, and it did not disappoint. The Tuscan shrimp was incredible — perfectly cooked and served over the most dreamy bed of polenta I’ll be thinking about until I’m back. The garlic was sweet and mellow, I’m guessing from being confited, and it tied everything together beautifully. The bar alone is worth the visit — it’s so pretty and has such a great energy. Can’t wait to come back (and hopefully save room for dessert next time)!

Went into this restaurant with very low expectations….no visions of culinary greatness, no dreams of life-changing meals. That was my first mistake.
From the moment we sat down, the waitstaff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Then the food and drinks arrived and things escalated quickly. The cocktails were fantastic…dangerously good, honestly….and set the tone for what turned into an unforgettable meal.
The burrata salad was so good it nearly brought me to tears (I was not emotionally prepared the pesto ). I ordered the Tuscan butter shrimp, which was absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible. We also shared the short rib dinner and pork pizzaiola, both of which completely blew my mind and made me question every restaurant choice I’ve ever made before this.
To finish strong, we ordered the pistachio affogato, which was the perfect mic-drop ending to an already phenomenal experience.
All in all, this was hands down some of the best food, drinks, and service we’ve had in a long time—and somehow it’s only a few minutes from where we live. This is extremely dangerous information. We’ll definitely be back (probably far too often).

I ordered lunch to go from Chenzo’s in Haddam and had a mixed experience. I called to place a takeout order and ask a few questions about the lunch options, as the lunch special is not listed on their online ordering system or website. During the call, the person taking the order seemed a bit short. I also requested a later pickup time since I was passing through the area between work meetings and wanted to give the restaurant a try, which they were happy to accommodate.
When I arrived, no one was at the host stand to greet me. After a few minutes, someone came out and directed me into the dining area. They were friendly, and I received my food. Although sorbet was an option with the lunch special and I mentioned on the call that I wanted it, I was only given the option of gelato at the restaurant. Totally not a big deal though, gelato is great, but it would have been helpful to know that ahead of time.
The biggest disappointment was that no cutlery was included with the takeout order. I was really looking forward to my meal and then wasn’t able to eat it without going through extra steps and taking additional time out of my day to find utensils, which was frustrating.
The food itself was decent, and the lunch special felt appropriately priced for what was included. That said, the regular dinner prices seem a bit steep for the area, and I likely would not order at that price point.

Chenzo’s is the real deal when it comes to authentic Italian food. My wife and I were greeted the moment we walked in, which immediately set the tone for a great experience.
She ordered the lunch special with Alfredo and blackened chicken and said it was absolutely fantastic. I tasted the sauce myself and it was rich, full of flavor, and perfectly done.
