Great cafe, and right near the library.
My espresso was tasty and the pastries received copius praise. It’s very cute and easy to sit and relax for a bit.
I heard that there is a summer ice-cream vending window that is a must-visit (including coconut-based varieties).
There was a vegan and gluten free baked good on the menu, too~ I wasn’t hungry, but it’s good to know it was available!

It makes me sad to leave this review as I really love this place, I’ve gone to the Elmhurst one dozens of times and never had an issue. The last two times I’ve been to the Oak Park location this month have both been disappointing. I love the salad they serve on the side of some dishes but these last two visits I had to pick out many pieces of green slimy old lettuce, this time one had some black mold on it. I understand holidays are a busy time and the service industry is short staffed but please look closer at the lettuce, it’s really gross.

I wasn’t planning on stopping into this bakery, but the amazing smell of the freshly made ice cream cones drew me right in! I ended up grabbing two cupcakes to go—french silk and banana cream. Both were super soft, flavorful, and delicious without being overly sweet.
While I was there, I looked over the menu and saw that they also offer food, drinks, and other treats. I definitely plan to come back for breakfast and coffee next time. And eventually, I’ll be back to try the ice cream that caught my attention in the first place!
A great little spot that’s worth a visit.

We were in the area for a tour and had some extra time. Based on a recommendation from a local we had lunch here. We ordered the avocado toast & breakfast burrito. Both were SO good! It took a bit longer than we expected and had to take some to go, but it was just as good as leftovers!!! Give yourself plenty of time and enjoy a really great meal here.

Wonderful service and selection of coffee and pastries. Very welcoming to people who need a work spot. Lots of power outlets, laptop friendly areas, and cozy corners for a phone call. Love this spot.

Ordered a caramel latte but their system automatically called it salted caramel. When I made sure I wasn’t getting salted caramel, an employee- who I’m guessing is the manager or owner- interjected to let us know it’s just the salt on top and they won’t put it on but the syrup they hand make does have a bit of salt but nothing more than what it takes to make caramel… The coffee was salty. I didn’t see salt on top, the syrup flavor was obviously salted caramel. I asked for a replacement with white chocolate but it was still not drinkable. They had a long line so I left thinking I’d be able to ignore the taste for the caffeine content but I just couldn’t get passed the unforgivable taste and ended up tossing it. Then getting home we realized that we received raw donut holes from the fresh batch that was poured into the display in front of us. This shop is so insanely hyped on social media and after going I’m genuinely confused as to why. With the energy the owner/manager (?) gave and the quality of product, it made me not even want to deal with coming in for any type of refund or replacements. Just gonna give out a warning to not follow the hype.

Courageous Bakery is friendly, welcoming, and has great pastries and coffees. Their food is good also but they’ve recently edited down their menu. I miss the tuna melt! It’s a cozy place to hang out and you can always count on good food and service.

I’ve been meaning to eat here for awhile and I got the chance today with my mom and I liked the food here although it was a little pricey. I got the French toast and chocolate covered pretzel hot latte and I really enjoyed the latte, strong espresso flavor and not too sweet. The French toast was good but I probably wouldn’t order it again.
My mom ordered chilaquiles verdes and she enjoyed it. Very generous portion and I enjoyed it as well. It’s good to come here for a latte and maybe a pastry for next time.

I was once told “if you see flies, leave!” Im glad I saw it through, some bugs don’t scare me as much as the common bear
my scone was very flavorful and moist (could be the flies? ) and the atmosphere was thick with a homey-oak-park feeling (that could also be the flies)
I did not have the ice cream, which is regrettable

Highly recommend this place! I visited on a recommendation from the staff at Unity Temple, and I’m so glad I did.
I ordered the traditional breakfast, and though the menu listed a biscuit, the staff kindly let me swap it for toast. I opted for scrambled eggs, and I’d definitely suggest adding a sprinkle of pepper—it really enhances the flavor. The jam seems homemade, and both it and the butter were absolutely delicious. The potato wedges were seasoned with herbs and not overly salty, though the portion was a bit more than I could finish. The dining environment is bright and comfortable, and the bar seating by the window even has outlets, which is a nice touch.
