Wicked Wife
Ordered in the Gibson. Waiting for our food, when our food was ready we went up and grabbed the bag that was tied closed and went home. Got home and an entire meal wasn’t in the bag! Paid $60 and didn’t even get all of our food. No way to call or contact to correct issue. Will not be going back.

Fries were barely warm. Food served on a dirty tray. I showed the girl working the counter. She kind of looked embarassed but said nothing. Turned around and continued eating some mac and cheese in the window where the food is sent from the kitchen to the counter.

Updated with pic of dirty tray and the girl’s food in the serving window. That is NOT a table.

I’ll not be back.

Pretty terrible cooking, I got to say. The Mac and cheese is something that’s definitely been made fresh another day and I’m not eating left overs. Then my French dip was probably the weirdest French dip I’ve seen. My wife had corn dog minis and those were even burnt. The owner really needs to evaluate who he has as his chief cause they’re not cooking to a good standard.

This location is inside a large warehouse with old beam ceilings and a lot of brick work. I got the Large Pulled Pork Platter and my wife got the Cheeseburger. We both had fries and I also had baked beans. The food was good and the service was great. If in the area again I would go back some good sauces to choose from as well.

Jan 22 2025, 5:55 pm. Ordered two double Wagyu burgers, one with reg fries, one with sweet potato fries, and two diet Pepsis.
Order total with tip came to just under $60.
At $30 per meal I expected to be pretty blown away. Service was good atmosphere was good. Food was very mid.
But the biggest problem was that the burger was the SMALLEST hamburger I think I’ve ever been served….
For reference, I’m 6 foot tall, 185, average guy. I’m guessing the burgers were 2-3 oz Patties before cooking. I’ve also had Wagyu ground beef before and this did not taste like that. This tasted like your average 80/20 ground chuck.
I’d like to reiterate that the food quality is not bad, and the service was good. But I will never spend $60 on two burgers the size of a half dollar again. We’re talking 3-4 bites.

I’ve eaten here twice.

The first time, I got a pulled pork sandwich, which was as expected in terms of portion size, taste, and price.

The second time, both my wife and I got the blackened chicken sandwich with fries. The flavor was good, but the portion size of the chicken filet was shockingly small. The portion of the fries was basically a double order of a large fries. I imagine this was to make up for the tiny chicken filet. IMO, that’s not really a fair trade off. We were both pretty disappointed in it, especially since it was $13 for what amounted to the equivalent of a McD’s hamburger and double large fry.

Very good BBQ!

My Wife and I had their food for the first time and I gotta say it was really good! I got the chicken tender platter with fries and my wife got the bird house.

(chicken tenders):
PROS:
– price
– portion size
– tenders were very crispy
– fries had perfect crunch and softness of potato.
– made fresh. Definitely wasn’t sitting.

CONS:
– breading needs more seasoning. It lacked spice like garlic powder, salt or pepper.
– need 2 dipping sauces served.

Bird House:
PROS:
– price
– portion size
– love the pulled pork added to the baked beans.
– the BBQ used on the pulled chicken was good and has a little kick at the end.
– coleslaw was noms!
– fries were perfect. Crispy and fluffy.

CONS:
– sauce for the pulled chicken seemed like it could have been mixed a bit better as some areas were stronger on the sauce than other.

Something else I really liked was that they make everything to order. So you know the food is fresh. If you are not able to wait 10-15 mins than this might not be the place for you, but don’t sleep on it.

Lastly, the staff. Everyone was super friendly. Happy to support a family owned business! Keep up the great work!

Was not sure what to expect when getting a “BBQ salad” but wow was it good! Awesome flavors are more than fair serving size. The chicken sandwich was also cooked in great seasoning that really made the flavor pop. There are some good options at the Market but I would definitely recommend you give Johnny Rodgers a try!

Three years ago, the Johnny Roger’s location on Concord Parkway was my favorite lunch spot. Best burger in town. When I discovered the Gibson Mill location, I frequented that location, as well, and I used to enjoy it. Not anymore. The “shrinkflation” concept is a joke, and the prices are ridiculous. Last night, I ordered a BBQ bacon burger and two orders of mini corndogs for the table. $37 with tip. AND it took forever. The burger was an absolute joke. Maybe 1/8 lb. And the mini corndogs were over cooked. These problems have persisted for some time now. Additionally, they’ll close early and unexpectedly WELL before the posted closing time, and they are consistently out of various menu items. This, after reducing the menu offerings considerably over the years. My family and I are frequent Gibson Mill customers and HIGHLY recommend Gibson Mill as a destination, but SKIP THIS PLACE unless you want a disappointing burger for $15-20. If you want the best food at Gibson Mill for the best value, enjoy a fantastic meal at Thai Esane, a few feet down from Johnny Roger’s, or try the Mediterranean place or the pizza place. And for dessert, you will never go wrong with Petalcakes!!! But don’t bother with Johnny Roger’s. They took a great restaurant and ran it into the ground and drove this customer (and his family and friends) away.

If you don’t mind throwing your money away, just go to this place! This was our first time at Gibson Mill in Concord, NC. For a cheesesteak with only steak and cheese….sooooooo NOT worth the $18.00 it cost!
