My friend and I were in Middletown on New Year’s Eve afternoon running errands. While driving around, we noticed this restaurant and the sign outside advertising their $5.99 lunch special and decided to grab a quick bite. Upon entering La Piazza, we were coldly greeted by Joana, our server. She was very rude and agitated while she seated us, snatching the extra place settings off of the table. Never once did she smile, ask how we were doing, ask to refill our drinks, or even provide minimally acceptable service.
Our food was prepared and delivered quickly, and was hot and seemed to be fresh. The quality of the food was decent, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was low key, cute, and the establishment seemed clean.
Now, having both worked in the food/drink service industry, my friend and I are great tippers when dining out. We always leave 20%, often leaving as much as 50% for exceptional service! Today however, we did NOT tip Joana, as we would have felt much more comfortable walking back to retrieve our own food from the kitchen, rather than having to be treated so poorly. She made our entire experience very uncomfortable and upsetting, despite the food being pretty good. As a matter of fact, upon exiting we were chased out of the restaurant by our “lovely” server, Joana, as she sarcastically yelled at us about forgetting our receipt and “thanking” us for our tip.
I have never received such poor service before, and I have NEVER stiffed a server on a tip before. But I can also tell you, after this experience, I will NEVER return to this establishment.

This place use to be good. Went with a group of 25 for a birthday party ( planned weeks in advance )waitress also had a couple of other tables besides our group. Orders were messed up one person never got a meal even after requested 3 times. My chicken parmigiana was not even edible. Rubbery like it was microwaved. Manager gave 25% discount still not satisfied. WILL NOT RETURN!

Should of known when walking in!!! I must say this place has went way downhill… Haven’t been here for at least 7 years. I can say it used to be great. Now, I would say it’s equivalent to truck stop food at 3 star restaurant prices.
The server tried very hard to make it a better experience. But, didn’t once ask how everything was. We had 4 of us there for dinner and not one of us took more than a bite.. Truthfully it was that bad!! It was a $75.00 check & $90.00 with a tip. I’m pretty convinced that this place is on the brink!

Wow has this place changed! The quality of the food and service used to be exceptional. Our visit last Saturday will be our last. The place was virtually empty. No scallops for the shrimp and scallop entrees. My husband ordered the chicken marsala as a substitute, chicken was tough . My entree was barely room temperature. We were very disappointed.

I have only been to this restaurant a few times but have never been disappointed. My daughter had linguine and clams she put her Spoon and Fork down and said she was done she was full. The next thing I know she’s eating again and manage to finish all except a couple of mouthfuls which I polished off for her. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Went in for a quick Italian lunch ended up spending over an hour there. Service was very slow, my table of two was one of two tables, a total of four people on the whole place and it took them almost 30 minutes to make two subs.
It also took a good ten minutes to get water and bread. Had to flag the waitress down to get more drink. She visited us that one time during the whole meal.
Asked for split checks and she brought back one.
Also the subs weren’t even that good. I could do better at home from scratch and in less time.

Average food for the price, if barely. Table service was slow. Knocked over my beer and no offer to replace it. 20+ minutes for a poor mixed speciality drink that was delivered when food was almost gone. 25 minute wait after clearly being done with our food to be asked about dessert.

Food portions I feel are….tiny….5 ravioli’s $16? Maybe I haven’t eaten in this area before… But yikes…food came out quick but everything was lukewarm… Service was nice but… That price and the amount of food given….but when it came to the bill the server checked up on us every 2 mins where was that speed when we were eating?

My boyfriend and I come in at least once a week. We always sit at the bar to see Bill, who is amazing. Has never lead me wrong with delicious wines and actually introduced us to our new favorite tequila. Everything from the stakes, salads, chicken and pasta is incredible. We look forward to dining there soon

This place use to be our favorite Italian restaurant. Service has really declined since Eric and some of the other staff left. It’s a shame I have been patronizing this establishment for 9 years and I think I just had my last meal. Food was still pretty good but the wait staff not so.
