Food was absolutely gorgeous. The quality was extremely high (I did go for expensive items).Even going alone, the staff treat you with upmost respect. The wine had some cork in and could’ve been strained, however the taste really paired well the main course. Anytime that I’m down in Newcastle I’m coming back to 21. To note, the main course did take quite some time and had to ask but was dealt with straight away.

As advertised the fixed menu is surprisingly great value for money, we still opted for an a la carte experience, which was the right choice for us! The famed cheddar cheese soufflé was a great start! We then had the deer, it was simply divine, which made the very poor wine selection on offer all the more devastating. When asked for a recommendation to accompany the main course we were served “the Malbec” – tragic. (No wine menu at hand). The desert was a beautiful fresh adaptation off “Williams peer”. The service was young and “nice enough”. The outstanding work of the chefs team makes it worth a visit!

The service was exceptional; attentive without being intrusive. The wine list was generous and well-curated, and the food itself was simply faultless. It’s rare to describe a meal for two at over £100 as good value, but 21 effortlessly bucks that trend.

I had an outstanding experience at Restaurant 21 in Newcastle. The atmosphere is refined in a distinctly British way—calm, understated, and impeccably polite. The service matched the mood perfectly; every waiter and waitress we interacted with was professional, attentive, and genuinely pleasant.
For starters, I had a cheese salad that was fresh, balanced, and full of flavour. The main was a perfectly cooked steak, tender and seasoned just right. Dessert was a highlight on its own: a caramel meringue that struck the ideal balance between sweetness and texture. We paired the meal with an excellent Pinot Noir that elevated everything even further.
A truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommended.

Food is just better than most places. We went on BYOB night and had the fixed menu. With two cocktails it’s still £110 but with a quality a level above. BYO nights are the first Wednesday of most months, state BYO when booking.

My family arranged my 60th birthday here and it did not disappoint, fabulous service, food and ambience, I cannot honestly fault a single thing with this establishment. James, one of the waiter’s assigned to our table was so professional and with great humour as was the maitre de.. a funny guy that informed our table when I arrived as the eagle has landed .. hahaha .. great surprise for me and I loved every minute of the night … I would deffo recommend.

Had a fantastic lunch for my Dad’s 90 th at 21 . Staff were fantastic and extremely welcoming and attentive . Beautifully crisp table linen and setting , non fussy but kind attentive service and the set lunch was just perfect , covered all bases appealing to my 2 teenage sons aswell as the more seasoned palate of my parents . Beautiful fluffy soufflé, followed by duck and a fab rose water crème with marinaded strawberries , delicious . Fab home made bread too . Other offerings were sea bream crudo with fresh peas , chicken terrine , Hake with ratatouille and pepper corn steak .

Nice location, Staff are polite and professional and very welcoming, nicely laid out and a very nice ambiance. Excellent choice of wines, cocktails and none alcoholic drinks. We had Sunday lunch and there was a nice choice of starter, mains and desserts. The food was lovely and the presentation was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
