At our Calhoun, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Not going to lie — I’m not a seafood person. At all. But I was hungry, tired of the usual fast-food options, and figured why not try something different?

Best. Decision. Ever.

I ended up loving the chicken tenders (so crispy and seasoned perfectly), the big golden pieces of fried fish, and shockingly… even the lobster rolls. Everything was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor.

I actually wanted to order more, but you know… the diet said “no,” even though my heart said “yes, absolutely.”

If someone like me — who doesn’t even like seafood — walks out smiling, full, and planning to come back, you KNOW the food is legit. Highly recommend!

UPDATE: The manager did call and apologize the next day after a corp complaint was filed.

Waited over 30 mins at 9PM on 10/24/25 for GRILLED FISH, we were forgotten at the drive thru the entire time and couldn’t get anyone’s attention. The lady at the DT was just goofing off in the dining room with some other girl and had everyone else’s food ready at the counter. The “manager” came out and was very unprofessional to my family. The car behind us had the same issue… We were issued a refund and never received any food or explanation.. (See pics for proof of refund and wait time)

They take over 30 minutes just to get food ready. I feel like they went to go fish the food somewhere and bring it back. If your willing to wait over 30 minutes for food come but they take wayyyy to long. Lazy staffing

The fried okra was cooked perfectly. The fish is always cooked to perfection. I had someone from overseas visiting and had never heard of captain D’s. He loved everything I ordered for him.

Blackened whitefish with green beans, rice, corn and a roll and fish and shrimp with fries, hushpuppies and okra. Clam and shrimp side. All came out hot and fast. Both orders on a senior menu, bonus!

40 minute wait for poor quality food ! Literally 7 French fries on a deluxe platter! Order came out missing my husbands dinner when cashier asked the manager to expedite it and explained that the rest of the order was on the table was told it’ll be a while! Great management great service won’t be back ! Spent almost 70 dollars for a horrible experience! 3 managers on duty Ruby Jennifer and Page! Definitely not an experience we will ever make the mistake of making again

Not that anything will be done because I have left reviews regarding not coming on time. This time went to order and clerk said oh we didn’t realize it was 1030. There was a car in drive thru and 2 customers out in lobby. We waited 35 minutes for food. Clerk stated they cleaned oil and couldn’t figure out how to get the oil to heat. It was hot extremely hot in lobby. I am certain this is a state issue for it to be that hot in a public restaurant. The guy behind us waited 45 minutes and good thing he checked his bag because they left out 2 of his items. Manager was parked in the front door, went right by all of us with an unlit cigarette in her mouth, too worried about going out to smoke, than to tell customers, they were sorry for the inconvenience. Absolutely no acknowledgement from her that there were issues at her store. I know this is fast food, but there should be at least some basic common courtesy and standards of at least acting like you care.

We sat in the drive-through on Wednesday evening at 4:40 and it took us 30 minutes to get our food. We’ll choose something else next time. The lady inside was more interested in talking to the man standing with her than she was waiting on us.

The services was great and I usually don’t complain on the internet. But they really should do something about the ac in the building not for me but the people that work their you could tell they were all struggling to breath. It was really hot in the seating so I know the people behind the wall were hot. Very unsafe
