At our Winder, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

This place is nicer than I expected. They have great customer service for sure and I feel that is so important! I have never ate inside so I can’t really rate the inside. The times when I have walked in for my order, the place looked clean. I used to always get the fish sandwich meal and it was always good. Sometimes I’d get fries and sometimes I’d get the okra as my side and that fried okra definitely hits the spot. There have been a couple of times when it seemed like it was cooked in old grease but those times are rare….but let me tell you.. one day I decides to try their $5.99 lobster roll meal and boy oh boy I have a new fave! I definitely did not think that Captain D’s could make a good lobster roll but it’s definitely tasty!
I recommend it to anyone who likes lobster. The only complaint I have is that the meal doesn’t include a drink and serving of fries they give is minimal.

I love Captain D’s food, but the condition of this Winder restaurant is inexcusable. I hope this review prevents someone from getting badly hurt. The Winder Captain D’s is in DISREPAIR and filthy. The ceiling tiles show an ongoing water/moisture/leak problem. Vents are black. The employees are pleasant and helpful, but I don’t know how they can function in such an environment – a fryer is out (again), the soda machine is broken, the roof/ceiling is leaking, ceiling tiles are disintegrating, and employees are sliding on the treacherous floor (as much, if not more) than the customers. The floors are dangerous! This is a chronic problem that gets even worse when it has rained. Cleaning products are making the damp floors even more slick. I hope you can zoom in to see the film and dampness on the floors. There are water marks throughout the public area ceilings. I was in there 20 minutes today and 3 people commented on the slick floor and “be careful”. Placing “caution wet floors” will not excuse the owners from addressing the problem.

Chairs are sticky. Booths are discolored and worn – some torn.
I didn’t bother with bathroom photos – a previous reviewer provided men’s bathroom photos. The women’s bathroom is no better. Garbage is probably taken out regularly, but the receptacles are not cleaned. “Ick” is on the walls.

I love Captain D’s, but this Winder location is just sad. I ordered fish but couldn’t tell if I received fish or chicken. Didn’t look like fish. Didn’t taste like fish, I will post a picture. Also, I believe they may be sponsoring UFC fights in the mens restroom because the toilet is busted, the toilet paper holder is busted, the door latch is busted and the splatter of bodily fluids reminded me of crime scene photos.

Great service and fresh food with good portions. I visited today after many years and I will say I was impressed. The restaurant while not spotless but it was much cleaner. The service was fast and friendly. We will be back.

I actually enjoy Captain Ds. This location is by far the worst I’ve ever been to. The drink machines are either out of ice or always unavailable. I’ve had to get sweet tea to suffice multiple times. The last time was the last straw for me. I ordered a fish meal and received a pinch of rice, 5 noodles for my Mac and cheese and my string beans were cold. I waited over 15 minutes to receive my order. During this wait I noticed multiple people coming back in to complain about their orders too. They always get it wrong. A health inspector would have a day in this location too! Do Not eat here!!!!! I hope this helps you guys! They need to revamp this place asap!! Wish I had photos

They messed my order up on DoorDash then I turned around and called them to see if they can give me my fish. They told me I had to call DoorDash for my refund. What the hell DoorDash gotta do with it when they fixed my food

Not as good as it used to be. The food was not good. Fries were limp and barely warm. The fish was more batter than fish. Seat cushions in the booths were torn and in bad shape. I don’t think I’ll be going back for a long while.

The only reason I am giving a one star is because there is no option for a negative star rating. 58 dollars for Nasty tables Nasty floors ( they where so bad it was like walking on ice , do yall mop the floors with grease or just not mop at all.) The seats where just as bad as the tables coke machines were flat just Nasty. An when my wife ask me if I wanted her coleslaw I seen stuff in it that wasn’t supposed to my chicken came out with pieces of mac an cheese on it. I willbe placing a formal complaint with the health department about this . I work hard for my money and left felling disgusted an ripped off and the restroom was just as bad,I’d rather use a porta Jhon on a construction site. Don’t wast your money in this dump.

I hate to say it. But, this chain never quite produces food that looks like the pictures that you order from. So, to me at least there is always a little buyers remorse. Overall the staff is friendly and the food is pretty good when you need a tiny seafood fix.
