This was our first time at Dirty Dog and it was great! The food was good and the service was upbeat and friendly. If you decide to come here its best to MAKE A RESERVATION! Going to the Dirty Dog was a last minute outing but we were able to reserve seats for 2 at the bar so Carl was our bartender/server the experience all around was amazing!

8/9/25: First I’ll say this; if you plan to come here, GET A RESERVATION! They have a couple of bar seats that anyone can use, but place seems always packed, so its a gamble to not have one. On the one hand, fortunately, I got a seat(just me) without a reservation; on the other, it was the worst seat in the house; completely facing away from the live musicians. That seat shouldn’t even exist to be honest, it is just impossible to enjoy your meal/drinks, and watch at the same time as you have to rotate your seat 180 degrees to see them. Plus it is right next to where all of the waitstaff pick up drinks, and a beer tap that obstructs the bartender’s view of you. Its just a terrible seat, so much so, I wish they just didn’t have any seats.

The bartender guy was constantly busy; it was hard to get a hold of him and when i did, it was too late; I couldn’t order any food, or an additional drink. He didn’t really feel sociable either, like he hated his job or something. I was told there were two performances(even though for this day, the website said this particular performance was from 6pm-10:30p) and he couldn’t order me any food, even though it was only 8pm. I just left disappointed, as I was looking forward to their menu. The drink I manage to get was good; small, but heavy on the liquor.

The live performance was definitely amazing. Zero complaints there. I dunno if I’ll be back though after this middling experience though. Get a reservation for a table(and in turn, a dedicated waitstaff to attend to you) and you should have a solid experience if you like jazz music.

One of the best date night spots in metro Detroit with an excellent menu and that’s not including the amazing jazz acts that comes through there.

This venue is amazing. I have to rate the decor and vibes an all-time high. The performance was amazing! We went to see Ali play with his brother and drummer on Saturday night. Shattered my expectations. It was fun to watch, and I highly recommenx a rebook of this band. The French 75 I enjoyed was one of the better ones I’ve had at typical bars.

I was not at all pleased with the food. Definitely not worth the price, and the atmosphere can’t redeem it. I had the crab cakes (foul freezer burnt taste), and the shrimp pasta (flavorless and soupy). The chef needs to put some love on that food. Some seasonings, too. And if you’re going to charge so much for your appetizers, don’t make it so obvious that they aren’t made fresh.

I’m late but I wanted to make sure I reviewed our experience this past Christmas! We came in the day after Christmas to celebrate both of our birthdays for date night and Kate was so nice she made sure we were satisfied to a T. Not only were our drinks absolutely delish but so was the food (omg we had the salmon and beef short ribs I went home full lol).. I wanted to give the staff and Marina a big thank you for such an amazing night!

Spent the evening here to enjoy Alexander Zonjic and I got that and more. The show was amazing, my service was excellent and my meal was phenomenal. I had the beef short rib and it was so tender it didn’t need a knife. I’ll definitely be back. The staff was very professional, efficient and full of hospitality.

This place was the perfect for a date night! It was small and intimate which I loved! They offer live jazz which is why I had to try this place out. The performer for the evening Dave Bennett was worth seeing. This was my first time visiting this restaurant and my evening was amazing. You do have to make a reservation for seating. When you get there seating is first come first serve (with a reservation). The appetizers came out first. I tried their Tenderloin Burnt Ends which were perfectly cooked and came on a glaze that offered a sweet taste. Next was their Crab Cakes which were good (I wished they were a little crispy and had more flavor) so I wouldn’t order again. They offered complimentary bread and butter. I tried their tomato bisque which was delicious, the butter that with that bread was good (it was butter with herbs). I had also tried their house salad, it was just salad.
For my meal I had their Salmon Fillet. It came with Fingerling Potatoes and Asparagus. The top of the Salmon Fillet was crisp, and it offered lots of flavor. (Pictured is their Chicken Protein Bowl, I didn’t tried this but my spouse said all the flavors came together well). I give this place a 5/5. The atmosphere was very nice, it had a very classy vibe. I cannot wait to visit again, our server Paul was also great and on the job.

I attended a birthday celebration at the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe. The venue was small and quaint, a nice, intimate atmosphere ideal for mature adults. The musicians playing that evening delivered a great set, the music was excellent and we had a very good time. My party members also enjoyed their meals. The selection was limited for me so I had the Spinach salad without the bacon. There was also an eggplant dish but I’d like to see more plant based options. Mr. Willie Jones made sure that we were taken care of and I will definitely be back. Let them know if you want more choices as well. Idk if they can add or make some alternatives but its worth a try.
