I attended a KW gala night at the Morton Arboretum – Ginkgo Room yesterday evening, and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing.

The views were beautiful, and the overall ambiance felt very high-end and elegant—perfect lighting, great layout, and a refined yet welcoming vibe. It truly felt like a special event space.

The drinks and appetizers were very good. The shrimp cocktail stood out—the shrimp were large, fresh, and delicious. The pasta was good as well. The only small letdown was the bruschetta, which was a bit disappointing compared to everything else.

Overall, the Ginkgo Room is a stunning venue with an upscale feel and a memorable atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend it for galas, corporate events, and special celebrations.

Everything is clearly marked GF, veg, vegan. I created my own vegan dish: the stir fry minus the noodles (contain egg) and added tofu. It was pretty good.

Ginkgo Catering did an incredible job at Colleen and Matt’s wedding! The food was beautifully presented, delicious, and received endless compliments from guests. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, adding a wonderful touch to the overall experience. As Bozena Voytko Photography, I could see the care they put into every plate, making the meal both a visual and culinary highlight of the day. Highly recommend Ginkgo Catering for anyone wanting top-notch service and unforgettable flavors at their event!

The dining area has floor to ceiling windows for a beautiful vista of the arboretum lake. At lunch on a busy Sunday, there was ample seating. My turkey sandwich was disappointing. The edges of the turkey were hard, tomatoes had no flavor and the bread was pretty boring. The fish and chips were greasy. Great atmosphere and quick service, but the food should have been better.

Wasn’t sure what to expect but the food was excellent. Had a salmon BLT and everything was fresh and delicious. Love all the drink and snack options as well. Nice views of the trees from within the restaurant

Delighted to discover that the Gingko Restaurant is open in the evening for Illumination (holiday lights) events. After experiencing the light displays, we stopped for a meal.

So many vegan and vegetarian choices on the menu. Other museums and venues could take a lesson from this! We ordered and enjoyed the Korean Stirfry. It was a little salty for me, but ample portions and reasonable prices. Served piping hot. Hot cider was delicious.

Lots of seating in the clean dining area, including seats by the expansive windows overlooking the lights for the Illumination finale. That was a treat and a fun way to wrap up the evening.

Our only issues were customer service focused. We had to ask for napkins and were given just two for meals that have a fair amount of juice. Also, we paid for my husband to have roasted vegetables added to his entree, but it looked just like mine in portion size. When I asked the server, he said he didn’t know. No offer to check or to make it right. We were tired, so didn’t press the point. But they will lose customers if this is a pattern.

Note: As with most museums and cultural centers, the food venues are run by a different company, not by the Arboretum.

The food was not terrible but not special. Maybe a step above cafeteria style food.

The mixed berry smoothie was the worst smoothie I ever tasted in my life. It taste like ice and watered down berry mix. It ruined my entire meal. The atmosphere is great but overpriced for the quality of food you receive. I understand this place is about trees and other flora but they need to stay out of the kitchen for sure.

They used to have some great choices like quinoa bowl (mentioned by others). The last two times we ate here, we were disappointed by less healthy choices and dry bread in the sandwiches. The food was lacking flavor, but we still love that they care for the environment and have compostable cups.

Not very friendly. As a member, I come here very often and get the usual Mocha Javalanche. It didn’t taste right them and looked completely different. When I told them that it tasted like caramel, she said it doesn’t (without trying it). And all she did was add more chocolate syrup to “fix” it, which didn’t help. The chocolate syrup was on the outside of the lid and spilled all over my clothes. I spoke with Member Services and they said the Gingko cafe is a separate entity (?). I’ll just skip the cafe from now on.
