I’m not sure where to start with this review as r every aspect was bad. Our chicken chimichanga was 75% black beans (see photo) and had a weird sweet taste. The overpriced chips and salsa were all so broken it was impossible to do them. The guacamole was lime forward. The pork nachos were simply not good. The cheese fries were limp and barely cheese covered. The chicken in the fajitas was tough. The service was sloooow and our food came out in 3 waves , with each being at least 5 minutes later than the last. To top it off they tried to charge us $150 too much on the bill. Nightmare on NYE.

Was visiting from Central Virginia having a little vacation in the OBX. Saw this restaraunt and was a little hesitant at first. Our servers name was Jacq, she was super friendly, sweet and nice. The food was in my opinion very very good and I am a huge food critic. I got the Pork Tacos and they were the best thing I have ever tasted. I would highly recommend this place. If, I could give more thab 5 stars i absolutely would. Thank you for a wonderful experience at such a nice establishment.

We were in town for a concert at Roanoke Island Festival Amphitheater. We stopped here to eat before our concert. Love the outside seating at the front of the building. What a cool vibe. We ate inside, which had a fun, funky vibe as well. Our first encounter with our server was a bit off putting. He introduced himself, we hesitated for a moment on our drink orders and he seemed distracted. Then said he would be back in a minute without taking our order. We started to second guess our decision to eat here. But the rest of the evening things went great. All our drinks were very tasty. The food was delicious. We all ordered different dishes and tried bites of them all. Very impressed with all the dishes we had. The stuffed mushroom app and onion rings were amazing. So glad I ordered the onion rings as a side with my salad. Definitely a must try. The server made great suggestions throughout the meal. At the end of our meal my husband decided we should take a shot before we left. Our server recommended a tequila shot with a house made chaser. I don’t love the taste of liquor so I didn’t love it, but it was a huge hit with the rest of the group. Highly recommend this restaurant if your are in the area. The atmosphere is a great representation of the local area and serves amazing, fun and unusual dishes utilizing fresh catch/local fare. Mid level price and fun and trendy decor.

Visited here on New Years Eve and it was busy. Had about a 45 minute wait. Sat out front on the patio and had perfect seats for the fireworks display by Manteo town.
Smoked 1/2 chicken dish was amazing!! As well as the Guy Fierri Approved Fish Tacos!!
Waiter was nice and on point. We will be back when we’re in Manteo again! Happy New Year!!

Went there for lunch because of outside seating and allow our dog..waiter immediately got water for the dog which was great..outside area wasn’t that clean and kinda rundown..although the place was empty it took along time for the food to arrive and had obviously been sitting out too long I had fish tacos and my wife was suppose to get a chicken chimmichunga(?) It was only after we left my wife reread the menu she discovered she didn’t get what she ordered similar but wrong ingredients..this place probably has potential but didn’t yesterday…high priced for what was served and I guess my upset stomach is just a bonus

Guy needs to return, not sure he would still recommend. Bar was full and oud, only two other tables had diners and were told they had fallen behind. Had regular fish tacos and thai shrimp tacos. The tortillas were store bought and not even reheated really not good took away from what was otherwise ok. Black beans and rice… can’t be positive but uncle Ben’s and Bushes would have been as good. Was hoping for a great time based on diners drive in and dives but apparently they have slipped. On the positive, Manteo is a great little town and area.

Ortega’s will wake up your taste buds! The serving size is perfect I am not a bean & rice person but this was fantastic. The tocos Those are not ordinary.
It is a must to get their made in house chips! I was excited to see the queso, The Guacamole, oh my, was my favorite.
The fajitas were exactly what was needed after a road trip!
Fantastic service, everyone was on point! This has to be in the top 10 restaurants to work at in Manteo

We came in the middle of the afternoon so there was no wait. We were suggested to order queso with chips and salsa by another business so we decided to stop by and have a meal. We ordered the Guy’s fish tacos, queso with chips and salsa and an order of the elote. The chips were fresh and the salsa had a nice flavor but queso was bland and we were a bit disappointed. The fish tacos were really yummy my husband doesn’t like lettuce so we got that on the side. The corn was a new experience for us. It tasted good but the amount of mayo on it was a bit too much for me I think it’s supposed to be that way but it’s something I wouldn’t get again. The service was great and the restaurant was clean.

Would return primarily for the chips and the “perfect” margarita. The chip trio ($12.99) was wonderful as well as the margarita ($12.99) A bit pricey, but after all it is a tourist town. The crab Mac was ok, wouldn’t order it again. The chili lime wings were good. We sat outside and the flies were a bit annoying, but the service was good.

No vegan options – I only “lucked out” because there was a special with cauliflower tacos which was cauliflower and salsa verde (that’s it) in store bought flour tortillas. The guacamole seemed days old and brown with overfried chips and “salsa” that tasted like tomato sauce from a can. The street corn my partner got was old and brown and seemed like it had been rolled in ranch rather than real cojita. The only thing that was passable at this restaurant was the drinks because they actually did not water down the alcohol.
I imagine they pre-make a lot of their food and it sits for days in the fridge before someone orders it. All the food seemed old, past freshness, no spice, no flavor. Beans and rice came also came with my tacos but I did not touch it because there were random hunks of old dried meat in it (see corn pic)? It was as if they scooped leftovers from someone else’s plate and mixed it into their bean and rice sides.
Do not go here! I promise you, anything you can make at home is better than this. I actually feel bad for the wait staff having to serve this food because they probably know it’s old and gross. We ate what we could only because we were hungry and not a lot of restaurants were open in town, but we ended up not eating like half of it all. I was actually put off my appetite because the cauliflower tasted vaguely fish-like. The worst $90 (yes, 90! for a barely eaten meal) I ever spent.
Editing to say that I had a stomach ache later that night from the overly-fried chips.
