This is based on my recent experience at papa ginos in saugus. We live in revere and last time was ordered papa ginos it was great so we thought it was worth the drive to papa ginos to pick up some pizzas, subs and fries. Both young staff members that we spoke to when picking up the order a young man and a young woman were both polite and respectful. We drove home and first thing we noticed was raw under cooked bacon that could potentially get everyone sick including our kids. 2nd thing we noticed was the fries were also not cooked and didn’t have a grain of salt on them it was awful. The subs were a little messy but tasted good. The pizzas are almost $30 each for an XL which isn’t cheap but we don’t mind paying that for a good quality pizza. With that being said I called papa ginos and spoke to a gentleman that said he was the manager on Sundays and said his name is Maher and its possible that he was the one that made the pizza. I told em that we’re regular customers and that we’ve never had an issue before and that the bacon on the pizza was undercooked and he said “um ok?” He immediately started speaking as if he was bothered about a minor first time complaint. He said aggressively said that he would make another damn pizza if I wanted to go back and pick it up and I said no we dont live close by and we dont want to make 2 trips to papa ginos in the middle of what was supposed to be a family dinner so the manager Maher said he’d instead can only give us a $10 discount for our next pizza instead of making another pizza and thats “the best i can do”. He had a little napolitan thing going going saying he was the only manager, ect , only to find out that he’s the manager just on Sundays lol so when I told him that I’ll be speaking with the district manager tomorrow he all of a sudden offered to give us $25 off our next order which is why we called in the first place. It was such a problem to make a minor complaint about a pizza that we didn’t even mention the fries to avoid restarting this whole conversation so we just said thank you and hung up. I don’t know if it’s because its Sunday or if its because Maher is manager on Sundays and was possibly cooking pizza or whatnot but someone needs to teach him how tl make pizzas because both pizzas we terrible unfortunately. Convenient location, great subs and boneless chicken BUT the pizzas were terrible and the customer service from the manager Maher was even worse. I dont feel entitled,I’m not out to get anyone in trouble but this is an honest review based on our recent experience to help other people that might be considering to drive to papa ginos in saugus on a sunday night for a family dinner. We are all human,I understand that we all make mistakes but the problem was that the manager did not want to take responsibility and make things right the first time instead he was giving us a hard time thats why I’m giving them a 1 star review. With all due respect i think the current sunday manager should be in charge of ANYTHING else, sweeping up or cleaning the bathrooms if he can manage, anything, instead of managing a business or being a part time pizza maker with an attitude as if you’re working due to forced labor. C’mon papa ginos get it together! Make pizzas great again!

And to the owner, please do not copy and paste this same message that you reply to on every 1 star review: “Hi. I apologize for your recent experience and appreciate you taking the time to share it with us. I will make sure to notify the Area Manager so he/she can review the incident with your local Papa Gino’s. We’d love to make this right for you! Please email [email protected] with your contact information and the phone number your order was placed under. I look forward to hearing from you. #WeAppreciateYou”

if you want a fresh slice don’t come to this location. Staff are lazy; they don’t switch out the slice pies when they are dead and shouldn’t be on the warmer anymore. I had asked the staff if there was fresh pizza coming out anytime soon. She said no she needs to ask for one, I decided to pay for the shitty slice anyway & sit and wait for another fresh pie that never got called after 20 minutes of waiting while my husband finnished his sandwhich. It’s 7:30 & u close at 9:30, if you have time to talk about seasons of your show on Netflix with all your coworkers you have Time to put a fresh pizza up. This location is not what it used to be!

My husband’s favorite but not too close to where we live..P.G’s is def a Boston thing. But the Saugus location, they are on point. Everything was spot on and delish!!! And the driver figured we had kids and she made mickey mouse ears on the box. Nobody puts that kind of effort anymore!!!! Great job! Great service! Great food!!

Usually very good I’ve loved papa Gino’s my whole life, but I ordered through uber today and after waiting for almost two hours and 5-6 delivery drivers later the order was mysteriously canceled. Really disappointed and still hungry. Those two hot dogs, fries, and mug root beer for $26 was robbery anyways. No wonder Papa Gino’s are disappearing they don’t even want to serve their overpriced food to the customers that are still with them.

Anthony and Joseph went absolutely above and beyond. Their hospitality was unlike any other experience I’ve ever had a Papa Gino’s—or any other pizza place for that matter. These dudes gave absolutely stellar service and won’t be forgotten! Absolute heroes.

Joseph was amazing. His demeanor and ability to problem solve created an enjoyable experience for me and my son. I was not sure what I wanted to order and he provided suggestions and best priced combinations for us. He also made our stay enjoyable while we waited. I will definitely return to this location! Thank you Joseph!

Basic but excellent slice of pizza. Not quite as good as Pizzeria Regina / Polcari’s but solidly ahead of Santarpio’s. Also Papa Gino’s is more family and budget friendly than the others. And they also have a wide selection of cold and grilled sandwiches to choose from. Carpet and furniture could really use an update but otherwise comfortable.

My son and I frequently stop at the Saugus location. Growing up Papa Gino’s was always a staple in our home and a core memory for me. I enjoy our weekly visits to Papa Gino’s in Saugus and continuing the memory making with my son and carrying on the tradition. Great pizza, friendly service, and classic Papa Gino’s interior. Core memories unlocked.

I don’t know what happened to my pizza tonight. Kind of looked like half the large pizza fell and they slapped on half a small pizza to fix it? The entire thing was wet and falling apart too. I have eaten Papa Gino’s my whole life, and I’m sad to watch the locations close one by one – but if this is where the quality is now, then maybe it’s for the best.
