Visiting Kansas City had dinner with four of our friends total party six people. Had reservations were seated on time. Ordered these chicken, spinach, artichoke dip, and the meatballs for an appetizer The chicken spinach, artichoke dip is served in a 4 ounce container enough food for one person, not a shareable item it was tasty, but not worth the money. The meatballs were delicious. My friend ordered the tomato basil soup. She said it was good but tiny portion. We dined on a Tuesday night and they had a special 6 ounce KC strip over mashed potatoes with brussel sprouts. The steak was one of the best KC strip I’ve ever eaten, perfectly medium rare. The potatoes were good, but very, very salty. The brussels sprouts were perfect. But overall, I loved it. The dining room is very, very loud kind of a basic dining room or maybe my friends are loud. .

First, a shout-out to our server, Olivia, who did a great job. The menu has a number of items that are very interesting to me, but I did not enjoy the food. The beef confit, which was a special for the day, was not special. The beef was quite tough, and the flavor was overwhelmed by the sauce. The garlic green beans were way too garlicky. The salad dressing for the house salad called the self ranch, but has a bitter flavor that it did not like. Even the house red wine was very meh. I think this restaurant would do well to focus on buying high-quality ingredients and letting the food speak for itself more, without trying to overwhelm it with herbs and spices.

If you’re looking for the ultimate wood-fired experience, this spot hits every mark. From the second you walk in, the smoky aroma of the grill sets the stage for a killer meal. The environment strikes that perfect chord—upscale enough for a date but relaxed enough that you don’t feel stiff, and the staff is incredibly welcoming, treating you like a regular even on your first visit.
The bar program is a standout; their craft cocktails are balanced, creative, and clearly made with high-end spirits. But the absolute showstopper? The Pork Belly and Grits. The pork belly is rendered to perfection—crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender—served over some of the creamiest, cheesiest grits I’ve ever had. It’s the kind of dish you’ll be thinking about for weeks.
Between the wood-fired steaks and that pork belly, this place is a masterclass in American comfort.

Best steak I’ve ever had! There is not a close second. Grace was our server and she was fantastic.
Sides were a nice compliment to a perfectly seasoned and cooked Tomahawk steak. The owner stopped by and offered his appreciation for our patronage.
Call ahead to make sure the Tomahawk is available for the evening.
If you are deciding between Sierra Grill and Jack Stack; SG is the place to be.

We had a great time here. Loved the atmosphere, The wood fire grill was awesome, making the whole restaurant smell wonderful. The food was very flavorful. We really loved the drinks. The expresso martini was one of the best we have had. The key lime pie was a bit small, in my opinion, but was still delicious

Stellar meal! One of the best if not the best I have had since returning to Kansas City. Server was helpful and knowledgeable but not overbearing.food was cooked to our liking and we are a foodie crowd. We had a wide array of food and everything way fantastic. The pics speak for themselves.

We went for the first time at Happy Hour and pretty much ordered from the HH menu. Everything tasted delicious. The only improvement that could be made was tha bread pudding was a bit watery, however the taste was very good. The hamburger, beef crostini and deviled eggs were delicious. We also enjoyed the house margarita and the key lime pie martini (not on HH menu). We look forward to returning and trying their other menus.

I loved this place when it was at the old, smaller location. Went there twice & had fantastic food & fantastic service. Bought my kids certificates there for special occasions. Went to the new location for our anniversary 12/3/25 at 7 PM. We had a reservation & had requested a cozy spot & told them it was our anniversary. Arrived & were sat by loud group by a cold window. Moved to a warmer location by a curtain where it wasn’t so loud.. Ordered drinks, and they were just fine. I got the last of the broasted chicken. I was so excited because true broasted chicken is uncommon nowadays. It was average, and I’m guessing it was fried. My husband got the KC strip that looked amazing & was cooked to perfection, but had very little flavor. Our anniversary was never mentioned and we were never offered dessert. My least favorite part of the evening was after spending $175, upon leaving, we didn’t even get a thank you. Two young girls were visiting at the hostess stand, and didn’t even acknowledge us. Disappointing anniversary dinner for sure.

Our New Year’s Eve dinner at Sierra Grill was, unfortunately, the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had.

Six couples in our group have a tradition of dining out every New Year’s Eve to celebrate the holiday, and it also happens to be my birthday. We expected a busy night and understood the prix fixe menu, though the prices were extremely high—$65 for salmon and $90+ for steak entrées.

By the time we were seated at 7:30 p.m., many menu items were already unavailable, which we accepted given the evening. However, four members of our party ordered the $90 steak, and all four arrived cold—not lukewarm, but genuinely cold. The sides on every plate (potatoes, Brussels sprouts, etc.) were also cold, as if they had been plated well in advance. We sent the steaks back, and they returned more than 15 minutes later only slightly warmer, with the same cold sides still on the plates.

Dessert service was equally disappointing. The key lime pie was a very small sliver, and the carrot cake was overcooked and tasted burnt. Even more concerning, at least five people in our party never received dessert at all. The server then offered us “free desserts,” which made no sense since dessert was already included in the prix fixe price.

We asked to speak with a manager, but no one came to the table. I eventually had to approach the service station myself before the manager—who identified himself as the owner—finally spoke with me. During that conversation, I explained the issues calmly. Instead of addressing the problems, the manager argued with me. When I mentioned the burnt carrot cake, the server had earlier said it was “Kirkland brand,” which was surprising on its own. The manager then dismissed the concern entirely, stating he made the cake himself and that it was “fine.” He also defended reheating the cold meals as appropriate handling.

The most astonishing comment came when I explained we were simply hoping for a nice New Year’s Eve and birthday dinner. His response: “Well, it’s New Year’s Eve and I have to work.”

No apology, no accountability, and no attempt to make things right. Gratuity had already been added to the bill, so we paid and left.

Between the food quality, service issues, and dismissive management, this was a deeply disappointing experience. I would not recommend Sierra Grill, and I would be shocked if this level of service is sustainable long-term.

Would give 6 stars if I could! Sierra Grill uses fresh ingredients and you can tell – everything was delicious! We had the 6oz filet which was coked to perfection. The Brussels sprouts were incredible and the mashed potatoes were so creamy and literally melted in our mouths. Also ordered the fried chicken sandwich which included fresh coleslaw. We will definitely be back!
