Enjoyed all 3 dishes. Both types of dumplings had good wrapper to filling ratio with tasty me as t filling. Spicy Wontons were sitting and coated with chili oil then sprinkled with pepper crisp flakes. Just enough spice to make it interesting and another layer of flavor. XLB had some soup on it and came with a soy vinegar like dipping sauce.
The fried rolls were all veggies inside wrapped in thin crispy fried wrapper. Despite not having any meat, rolls were flavorful. Served with sweet dipping sauce.
Reasonable pricing. Nice staff. Food came out quickly. Plenty of parking. Near the Linda Mar beach area so you can actually take food to go and have them at the beach.
Today I order the following:
Deep Fried Spring Rolls (3) $5.95
Dan-Dan Noodle (Dry) $14.95
Everything was delicious and fresh to order!
They were able to accommodate and make my Dan-Dan vegan no meat at all not even paste!!!
The atmosphere was welcoming and I couldn’t be more happier to come back again!
What amazing staff food and overall great experience.
Thank you,
The Traveling Truck Show
Plot twist— I ordered again later that evening. Delivery. Delicious.
P.S. A full three days later, I heated up the eggplant in a skillet with some vegan ground meat/shiitake mushroom protein, and it was incredible.
Part IV: The Noodle
Just picked up our fourth order from this location, and I am happy to say that it was a full house! Every single table was occupied. We ordered to go and had to let you know.
干煸四季豆 Braised Green Beans
担担面 Dan-Dan Noodle (dry)
炸酱面 Zha-Jiang Noodle (Dry)
The best:
– pork and chive dumplings
– spicy wontons
Good:
– ground pork and tofu golden soup
– bbq steam buns
Underwhelming:
– cucumber salad. Normally I love this dish, but the flavor of the sesame oil and garlic did not come through on the cucumber. It tasted like the cucumbers were plated immediately after being crushed and chopped instead of getting some salt and 5-10 minutes of rest.
In appetizers we tried the Black Wood and Silver Ear Mushrooms in House Dressing. It was light, full of flavor and extremely fresh. The house dressing was sour, slightly spicy with a tinge of sweetness.
We had the Pan Fried Veggie Pot Stickers and Homemade Shanghai Xiao Long Bao. The Veggie Pot Stickers were delicious with delicate outer coating. Tip: Dip the Veggie Pop Stickers in the Black Wood and Silver Ear Mushrooms’ House Dressing! It tastes wonderful!
Homemade Shanghai Xiao Long Bao were hot, soupy, fresh and simply divine.
Highly recommend trying this place.
